7.2.9

Maintenance release for hosts that must stay on iOS 14. Cut from the current 8.x tip; does not replace 8.x as the recommended line (iOS 15+).

Fixed

  • iOS 14 hosts can take post–7.2.8 product work without requiring the 8.0.0 iOS 15 minimum (restored iOS 14 fallbacks for chat list updates, history filter chrome, and tab bar appearance).

Improved

  • Includes the 8.x lineage through the tip used for this cut (PubNub 10.2, identity login/logout rebind, and later 8.2.x fixes). Prefer 8.x on iOS 15+ when you can raise the deployment target.

Breaking (relative to 7.2.8)

This is a large jump from 7.2.8 even though the version is a patch:

  • PubNub Swift 10.2.0 (was 6.3.x on 7.2.8)
  • JWTDecode 4.0.x and related toolchain moves from recent 8.x
  • Behavior changes from 8.0.0+ (identity rebind, PubNub recovery, and related fixes)

Hosts that only want a tiny 7.2.8 delta should stay on 7.2.8. Hosts that can use iOS 15+ should prefer current 8.x.

Native / integrator notes

  • Minimum iOS on this tag: 14.0
  • main / 8.x: remain iOS 15.0+
  • React Native: pin ios.nativeSdkVersion to 7.2.9 only when the host must stay on iOS 14
