desktop-v0.1.0-alpha.2
Pre-releaseAlpha 2 of the Kutup desktop app — a native Tauri 2 shell around the Kutup web client. Still an early preview; expect rough edges, please report bugs.
Updating from alpha 1? The bundle identifier changed (
dev.kutup.desktop→dev.kutup.client, product-wide now that the same shell also builds iOS/Android) and the binary is nowkutup-client(waskutup-desktop). So alpha 2 uses a fresh app-data dir + keychain entry — after installing it you'll see the server-picker again and need to log in once. The olddev.kutup.desktopdata is harmless leftover (delete~/.local/share/dev.kutup.desktop/on Linux if you like). On Linux the installed binary /.desktopentry also moved (/usr/bin/kutup-client).

(The Windows installers are versioned 0.1.0, not 0.1.0-alpha.2 — the MSI format doesn't allow a non-numeric pre-release tag; same build as everything else. Kutup_universal.app.tar.gz is the auto-updater bundle — ignore it for a direct download.)
First launch
You get a server-picker screen — enter your Kutup server URL. It must serve HTTPS with a certificate your OS already trusts (a self-signed cert won't work in v1 — use a real cert / a tunnel). After you log in, the session is kept in your OS keychain and restored on the next launch; there's a "Switch server" / "Sign out" option in the sidebar.
Known limitations (v1)
- Unsigned builds. macOS: right-click the app → Open the first time (Gatekeeper). Windows: More info → Run anyway (SmartScreen).
- Can't open Office docs (
.docx/.xlsx/.pptx) yet — the OnlyOffice editor isn't bundled in this build. Everything else works: file browse, upload/download (including folder-as-ZIP), the notes & code editor, Excalidraw whiteboards, sharing, admin. - No auto-update yet — grab new builds from the Releases page.
Also new since alpha 1
- iOS / Android build scaffolding is in place (
mainBinaryName, mobile crate-types,bundle.iOS/bundle.android,docs/mobile-build.md) — not shipped here, but the project now builds for phones.
Build it yourself: see docs/desktop-build.md.
