Multiplayer stops forgetting you, and everyone starts with a way to get around.

Your pack is still there when you come back

Join a friend's world, leave, come back next week — your inventory is waiting, including tools with their upgrades and charge intact. It survives the host closing the game, not just you leaving.

This is recognised by a random number the game stores under your user account (%LOCALAPPDATA% on Windows), so it follows you rather than the folder you launched from. Reinstall the game, move it, launch it from somewhere else: still you.

Worth being plain about two things. It is an identity, not a password — it travels in the clear, and anyone who has it could claim that character on a host that remembers them. That is the same trust model as telling someone your port number, and it is fine for the people you already invited. And it is deliberately not tied to your hardware: no MAC address, nothing that identifies the machine.

Everyone who joins starts equipped

The starting kit was only ever handed to the person who made the world, so a friend arrived with an empty pack — no weapon, no fire starter, none of the wood. Everybody gets one now.

The Warp Wand

A new item at 12 Iron and 4 Gold, so teleporting no longer waits for the far end of the game.

Fire it, and you arrive where the bolt stopped. It holds exactly one charge and takes three seconds to refill, so it is a way of getting around rather than a way of winning a fight. Range is about a hundred and thirty cells, and a shot that hits nothing at all is a charge wasted — it is happier underground than out in the open.

Every new character starts with one.

If the bolt hits a wall rather than a floor, you now arrive level with the mark and are lifted to wherever a body actually fits, instead of being dropped back down the corridor you fired along.

Windows is the fuller build: it adds direct-IP multiplayer and keeps saves as files you can move between machines. Play free in your browser at cinderlift.com — the browser build keeps ten save slots in your browser's own storage.

Existing worlds keep loading. Everyone in a multiplayer session needs the same version.
