CodeRook's first public beta: a local-first Python coding agent with shared TUI and Web frontends, durable sessions, auditable tool execution, reviewable changes, and interruption recovery.

Highlights

  • Launch with coderook for the TUI or coderook web for the local browser interface.
  • Shared daemon, sessions, event replay, permissions, receipts, checkpoints, and Change Center across both frontends.
  • Multi-provider BYOK routes, including DeepSeek, OpenAI, Anthropic, Gemini, Kimi, OpenRouter, SiliconFlow, Alibaba Cloud, Ollama, and LM Studio.
  • Evidence-preserving context compaction, bounded goals, managed worker worktrees, and explicit review/apply.
  • Fixed a TUI input race where Enter could be swallowed by a stale slash-completion popup.

Install this beta

Requires Python 3.12:

`
uv tool install "https://github.com/kyletser/coderook/releases/download/v0.2.0-beta.1/coderook-0.2.0b1-py3-none-any.whl"
coderook

or

coderook web

PyPI publishing is not enabled for this first beta yet. Use the attached wheel or source archive. Verify downloads with SHA256SUMS;
elease-contract.json records the tag, commit, and protocol versions.

Verification

Final release commit 2e8fda5 passed Ruff, repository checks, Windows/Linux Mypy, 2,373 tests (11 skipped), protocol generation check, source/wheel build, and wheel first-run smoke.

Status

This is a prerelease. Public interfaces may still change before 1.0. Windows process isolation is partial and remains approval-gated; it is not advertised as a complete OS sandbox.
