Picture

• Distance fog per pixel: the scenery sinks gradually into the fog as it gets farther, instead of changing face by face. Stronger by default.
• Headlight beams with soft edges and their own strength by day and at night (Enhanced lights; off gives the original's beams).

Launcher

• Menus: File (Preferences with Always on top, Exit), Game settings, About.
• Game settings > Graphics: picture, resolution and anti-aliasing, and sliders (with number fields) for motion, draw distance, fog, where the fog begins and the headlight beams.
• Game settings > Key Bindings: change the driving, car and game keys; they apply while you race.

Running it

No original game data is included. Put your own DOS Test Drive III files in a Game folder next to the exe - see HOW TO RUN.txt in the zip, or README.md for the options and controls.

Test Drive III Enhanced 0.1.1

Some releases of Test Drive III name the game executable TD3.EXE instead of TDIII.EXE. Both the launcher and the game now accept either name.

• Smooth 3D view at your display's refresh rate.
• High resolution (up to 2560 × 1600) with anti-aliasing.
• Longer draw distance and distance haze.

Driving

• Smooth steering, from a small correction to a hard turn; spins, slides and the handbrake as in the original.
• Truer game speed; the race clock counts real seconds.
• Softer landings on downslopes, police that give chase only once passed, a finish marker on the compass.

Launcher

• Test Drive III Enhanced.exe: car, course, skill and picture options, remembered between runs.
