Geo Story Map 0.3.0

Highlights

  • Six coordinated map and content themes: auto, light, dark, vintage, cyber
    and atlas. Obsidian defaults to auto, following the native host theme; fixed
    themes preserve authored palettes across hosts.
  • Card and full layouts, card alignment and optional width/height ratios, left/right
    full content placement, and narrow-screen vertical fallback.
  • Full-layout floating navigation and page counter, with map focus offset to keep
    the active marker clear of the content panel. Theme and layout changes preserve
    the Leaflet instance.
  • Full layouts resolve linked notes as full Markdown content regardless of
    noteDisplay, without duplicating frontmatter titles or media.
  • Redesigned English/Traditional Chinese project site with interactive examples,
    settings reference, copyable source and official community-plugin installation.
  • GitHub Pages pull requests run validation; deployment remains restricted to main.

Upgrade notes

Existing YAML documents receive parser defaults for the new theme and layout fields.
The source schema identifier remains storymap/v1. Direct TypeScript construction of
StoryMapConfig requires map.theme and layout. To retain a fixed light card layout,
add the following fields alongside the existing map settings and slides:

map: {
  // Keep your existing map settings.
  theme: 'light',
},
layout: {
  mode: 'card',
  card: { align: 'left' },
  full: { side: 'right', contentRatio: 0.5 },
},

Alternatively, use the core parser/schema to apply defaults. layout remains a
document-only setting; only map.theme is added to Obsidian plugin defaults.
The plugin remains desktop-only and requires Obsidian 1.8.7 or newer.
Install or update it through Settings → Community plugins → Geo Story Map.

Known limitations

  • Blue Topaz can override bold text with a light !important color, reducing contrast
    in Atlas. This release does not fix that host CSS conflict. See the
    Atlas comparison.
  • Map tiles and remote example media require access to their external providers.
  • Production site/example builds still report large JavaScript chunk warnings.

Geo Story Map 0.1.2

@kywk kywk released this 26 Sep 17:01

Fix settings reset compatibility with the declared minimum Obsidian 1.8.0.

  • Reset redraws static setting rows without using the Obsidian 1.13-only update API.
  • Searchable definitions remain available on 1.13+, with legacy settings on 1.8–1.12.
  • Add source-based workspace TypeScript analysis without requiring built declarations.

Desktop only; minimum Obsidian 1.8.0. Plugin ID: geo-story-map.
The npm libraries and Markdown syntax are unchanged. Community recheck is pending.

Geo Story Map 0.1.1

@kywk kywk released this 26 Sep 16:49

Fix the community scanner's script-creation finding by disabling React DOM's unused
script-element creation paths in the Obsidian bundle.

  • Script preinitialization, module-script preinitialization, and inline/asynchronous
    script rendering now reject the operation before creating a script element.
  • The build validates the expected React source paths and checks the final bundle.
  • DOM regression tests cover ordinary rendering, click/state updates and unmount.

Geo Story Map remains desktop-only, with minimum Obsidian 1.8.0. ID: geo-story-map.
Markdown syntax and npm libraries are unchanged. Dependency licenses are retained,
and the host-local React modification is disclosed in the bundled notices.

Update using main.js, manifest.json, styles.css and THIRD_PARTY_NOTICES.txt.
Community scanner recheck and approval are pending.

Source review corrections:

  • Preserve workspace leaves when disabling the plugin.
  • Use CSS for static host styles, and simplify command/settings labels.
  • Add searchable setting definitions on 1.13+ while retaining 1.8 legacy rendering.
  • Remove deprecated reset button styling and redundant type assertion.
  • Preserve scoped wrapper behavior without a detached method reference or this alias.

Geo Story Map 0.1.0

@kywk kywk released this 26 Sep 10:35

Geo Story Map turns Markdown notes into geographic stories with an interactive Leaflet
map and slide navigation.

  • Recursive discovery from one note folder, ordered by the configured date field.
  • Explicit slides preserve author order.
  • Metadata-only, linked-title and full-note display modes.
  • Markdown ↔ Geo Story Map switching, page previews and note navigation.
  • Configurable map defaults and full-leaf resize handling.

Desktop Obsidian 1.8.0 or newer is required. Mobile is not supported in this release.
The plugin ID is geo-story-map; document frontmatter and fenced language remain
story-map. The separate Obsidian Leaflet plugin is not required.

For manual installation, copy main.js, manifest.json, styles.css and
THIRD_PARTY_NOTICES.txt into <Vault>/.obsidian/plugins/geo-story-map/, then enable
Geo Story Map in Community plugins. The full license notices are also embedded in
main.js for automatic installs.

Maps use OpenStreetMap network tiles by default. Configured tile services and remote
media connect to their specified hosts. No plugin account, payment or telemetry is used.

Community-directory approval is pending. See the repository README for document examples
and docs/obsidian-submission.md for submission instructions.
