@github-actions github-actions released this 08 Oct 22:30

What works differently:

  • A typed location is placed on the map a few seconds after you save, once
it's looked up online; saving no longer waits for it.
  • On a net, Traffic typed with no call sign is saved as a note from net
    control, not a check-in.
  • A station's street address, when it matches a house, now beats QRZ's
point, so some stations land somewhere different (usually closer to right).
  • Approximate pins are hollow or faded on the maps, and a location that
couldn't be placed gets a crossed-out pin in the list.

This version updates the database: once it's run, 2.6.0 can't open the data.

Added

  • Cross streets are placed on the map, typed the way people say them:
"sw 152st & sw 137ave miami fl", "sw 152 st and sw 137 ave", "Coral Way &
Douglas Rd". The app works out where the two streets cross, near your
net's repeater (else net control), or near a town if you type one.

  • Looked-up places are remembered, so the same address or corner is
looked up online once; the next check-in from it is placed at once, even
offline. They're listed in Settings under Offline data, where they can be
    cleared.

  • Streets are remembered too. The streets fetched to find a cross street
are kept, so a later corner of streets already fetched is placed at once,
offline and without asking anyone. The more the app is used around your
area, the more corners it can place with no internet.

  • Type a saved place's name ("County EOC") into any location box to put
    it there.

  • Notes from net control. On a net, type into Traffic with no call sign
and press Enter ("Save note") to log a note from net control: a bulletin
read, a warning issued, a switch to a backup repeater. It's a line on the
roster and the ICS 309 at the time it's saved, from your call sign with To
left blank, but it isn't counted as a check-in or a station and never
    needs Handled.

  • Says when a location couldn't be placed. If the lookup after saving
finds nothing, the check-in or report gets a crossed-out pin beside its
location, and hovering says to pick the spot on the map, instead of it
    quietly staying off the map.

  • Rough pins look rough. Each check-in and report keeps how its map point
was found (a pin, the street address, where the streets cross, a ZIP code's
or town's centre…). On the maps, approximate stations are hollow, dashed
dots and approximate reports are faded, with a key; hovering over a
location says how it was placed, and the CSV exports have a "Location
    Placed By" column.

Changed

  • A station's street address beats QRZ's point when the address matches
a house. QRZ's point can be an old address still set on QRZ, or a rough
one, and could put a station kilometres away.
  • Every location box works the same way. The check-in and report
Location boxes, the map picker's search (net control, operators, repeaters,
saved places, the APRS area), and the weather area all take the same
things: an address, a cross street, a town or ZIP, coordinates in any
format, a grid square, a mile marker, or a saved place's name. The same
text lands in the same place wherever it's typed.
  • Saving never waits on the internet to place a location. A check-in or
spotter report is saved at once and lands on the map a few seconds later,
when the online lookup finds it.
  • Locations are read the way people write them: "N.W. 27th Ave",
"21 st ave", "US-1", "sw 40 st (bird rd)", "corner of …", and bare numbers
like "152 and 137" all work, and an apartment or unit number or a PO box
no longer stops an address being found. Search boxes no longer wait up to
half a minute on the slowest map service, and with no net location,
searches start from your weather area instead of the whole country.
  • More accurate pins. Shorthand like "13700 sw 152 st" is read as
"Southwest 152nd Street" (it used to land on the wrong street), places are
searched near your net first (a bare "Main St & 5th" no longer lands in
another state), and a town's or street's rough centre is marked
    approximate on the map.

Fixed

  • Large text and zoom no longer misalign the lists. At a larger text size
the check-in roster's, contact log's, range check's and spotter reports'
columns widen with their text, so the Time no longer runs into Traffic or
Notes (a window too narrow for every column scrolls sideways). The buttons
above each list wrap whole instead of breaking their words, and Save
    check-in stays on its row.
  • Times line up to the second at any zoom. Each list's Local and UTC
times, and the Time heading, end at the same place on every row, whatever
the zoom or text size, and so do the clock's two lines at the top right,
which no longer end the UTC time with a "Z".

Download

See the assets below for your platform:

  • Linux: .deb (Debian/Ubuntu), .rpm (Fedora/RHEL), or .AppImage (runs on most distributions)
  • Windows: .msi or the .exe (NSIS) installer
  • macOS: .dmg (one universal build, works on Apple Silicon and Intel)

Windows, Linux, and macOS builds come from the same source. Windows installers are not code-signed,
so Windows may warn ("Unknown publisher" / SmartScreen) before you can run one; macOS is not
notarized, so it may warn that the developer can't be verified (right-click the app and choose
Open to run it anyway). Neither is a sign of tampering, just the cost of an unsigned open-source
build.
