🔧 Windows 10 Compatibility Fix
PureWin now works on all Windows 10+ machines, including older builds where the console doesn't support ANSI/VT escape sequences.
What's New
- Non-TUI fallback shell: On consoles without VT processing (old Win10 cmd.exe), PureWin automatically falls back to a simple
pw>prompt-based shell instead of the bubbletea TUI — no more garbled output - Non-TUI fallback for all interactive UIs:
/analyzeshows a static ASCII tree,/statusoutputs JSON,/uninstalland/cleanuse a numbered list selector with toggle commands --no-colorflag: Force plain text output on any terminal- Windows version detection: Uses
RtlGetNtVersionNumbersfor accurate OS version checks - UTF-8 console output:
SetConsoleOutputCP(65001)called unconditionally for proper Unicode rendering - Hardened installer: One-command PowerShell install with null-safe PATH handling and download verification
How It Works
PureWin detects VT capability at startup:
- ✅ VT supported (Win10 1607+, Windows Terminal, modern consoles): Full charmtone TUI experience
⚠️ VT unavailable (old cmd.exe, legacy consoles): Automatic fallback to plain text mode — all commands still work
