Added preliminary A6000 Support
What's Changed
- Add environment support for A6000 Unicorn. by @Tallguy58 in #13
- This release synchronizes the GitHub Codebase to the Aminet version
New Contributors
- @Tallguy58 made his first contribution in #13
Full Changelog: 0.15.1...0.16
Fixed Vampire V2 Detection
This is a bugfix release, no new features
Bug fixes
- Apparently, not all Vampires have or expose the SAGA Chipset. This was used to initially detect Vampires. Now we are back to just use the 68080 CPU
- For coinsistency,
$TotalSlowMemvariable is now also tried to be removed, if no slow mem was detected - Fixed error in Readme. CreateTestDisk must be executed using the execute Amiga Dos command
Fixed Vampire detection, added $TotalRam variable
- Added $TotalRam variable as a convenience
- Fixed Vampire detection
- Fixed FastMemFirst integration in test
- Code Cleanup
Memory-related Variables and Variable Availability
Additions
This release brings the long-awaited update to check for the installed memory using the following variables:
| Name | Function |
|---|---|
$TotalChipRam |
Total amount of Chip RAM installed in KB |
$TotalFastRam |
Total amount of real Fast RAM installed in KB |
$TotalSlowRam |
Total amount of Slow RAM installed in KB |
$SlowRamFirst |
indicates that slow ram is first in memory list |
Breaking Changes
Variables may no longer be available if they do not make sense. For example, instead of being set to an empty value, $FPU is not set at all, when the CPU is < 68020. Similarly, $UAEMajor is no longer set, when no UAE was detected. This was done to not unnecessarily pollute the environment variable space.
Note that as a consequence, sysvars may now actually remove its environment variables in some situations (e.g., in OS 1.3 after FastmemFirst was executed, $SlowRamFirst might get removed)
Other Changes and Fixes
- Fixed critical bug for Kickstart 1.3 and 1.2
- added probevar utility to test for the existence of environment variables
- Added compile support for PhxAsm and asmotor
Improved Vampire Support
- Added
$VampireType,$VampireCoreRevandVampireClockMult(see #7) - Some code cleanup and optimizations
Full Changelog: 0.11...0.13
Proper Vampire Support
- Added proper Vampire support following http://adevnoo.wikidot.com/detect-080-code (thank you @Tallguy298 for the find!)
- minor code cleanup
Added KSGE36 tool , improved tests and scripts
- Added the tiny tool KSGE36 to the distribution
- Stands for KickStart greater or equal 36
- Tests if the current OS is at least version 36 (i.e., OS 2.0)
- Used in the test script to decide if an ENV: assign is necessary (which is for OS below 2.0) and commands have to be made resident (see below)
- It is more or less equivalent to calling
Version 36from Workbench, with the difference that it can be freely distributed (unlike the Version command) and also works below OS 1.3
- Improved the speed of the test script in OS1.2 and OS1.3 by putting the
ECHO,IF,ELSE, andENDIFcommands into RAM (via resident if in shell) - The test (in test/echo-test) can be run from workbench or deployed on a bootable floppy for real Amigas. The script
CreateTestDiskcan be called with a device name (e.g.,df1:) to create such a disk - Fix for AROS (here, SetVar cannot access the bsdsocket.library id string)
- Code builds with most ASM-One flavors again.
- Added version information so you can call
Version sysvars[^6] - Code/comment cleanup
More Variables and Better Customizable
- Added
$KickVerand$KickEnvthat provide kickstart version and revision $UAEis now split in$UAEMajor,$UAEMinorand$UAERevfor more convenient scripting- Added detection of bsdsocket.library (
$BSDSockLibcontains the id string,$BSDSockLibVerthe version, and$BSDSockRevthe revision) - Refactoring and code improvements (still learning though)
- Easy way to disable certain variables/features at the beginning of the file using constants (Adapt to your need and make the tool as tiny as possible)
- Unified SetVar approach using macros
- Easier integration of new features via consistent scheme
- Better comments
- added test script for startup-sequence
Basic OS 1.3 Support
Added limited OS 1.3 Support:
- CPU detection up to 68020
- FPU detection will return 68881 for any FPU
- Custom SetVar implementation for OS 1.3 (setenv-like functionality)
Version 0.8 (initial release)
The following variables are Set
- CPU: installed CPU, for example
68030(68080is experimental) - FPU: installed FPU, one of
68881,68882,internal(for non-LC/EC 040 and 060 CPUs), or empty if no FPU is available - Chipset: installed graphics chipset, one of
OCS,ECS,AGA(noSAGAsupport) - VFreq: the vertical frequency of the native display, can be either
50(PAL 50Hz) or60(NTSC 60Hz) - UAE: The version of UAE detected, empty if UAE was not detected
Requires at least dos.library version 36 (Amiga OS 2.x) due to the use of SetVar.
