2.10.0

Bookmarks now sync. Obsidian keeps them in .obsidian/bookmarks.json, which the sync always skipped along with the rest of the settings folder. That one file now syncs like a note (the newer version wins, the older one is kept beside it) and is picked up by the hourly full sync; everything else in the settings folder stays on its own device.

Fixed files with accented names (á, é, ő, ű…) failing to sync when pCloud stores them in the other Unicode form (a + combining accent instead of one character). They are now found, downloaded and deleted whichever way pCloud keeps the name, and a vault shared between Apple devices and Windows/Linux/Android devices no longer sees the same file as two.

Release 2.9.10

Paths added to the "Excluded paths" setting are no longer synced: the next sync deletes them from pCloud and from the remote index, and this device forgets them. The local copy is left alone.

Fix unused variables in sync-engine.ts

  • Removed unused Platform import.
  • Removed unused MOBILE_MAX_SYNC_BYTES constant.

Fix: Android devices no longer skip large files

The mobileMaxBytes size cap was completely removed, allowing Android and iOS to sync large files without skipping them. Memory usage is kept small via oneLargeReadAtATime and concurrency limit for large transfers.

A full sync is much faster on phones and tablets.

  • A full sync now recognises unchanged files from what Obsidian already knows about them, instead of asking the file system about each one. On an Android tablet that was 8 minutes for 5,000 files. Every 12 hours it checks the disk itself, so a file another app changed without Obsidian noticing is picked up within half a day at the latest.
  • Before deleting, overwriting or uploading anything, it still checks the file on disk, so a change Obsidian hasn't noticed yet can never be lost.
  • The troubleshooting log (off by default) now shows how long local deletions take.

Large deletions reach phones and tablets much sooner.

  • After checking the files, a sync now first does everything that needs no network, above all deleting the files other devices deleted, and only then starts downloading. Before, deletions were mixed in with downloads, so a sync that got cut off on a phone (the app closed, an update, switching away) left many of them undone every time.
  • Checking the files is faster, especially on Android: one file-system call per file instead of two, and several files at a time.
  • The troubleshooting log (off by default) now shows how long each stage of a sync took.

The settings under "Sync" show up again.

  • "Sync now", "Re-check every file", "Upload a troubleshooting log" and the cookie button were missing from the settings tab, because of a mistake in how that section was declared. They are back under the "Sync" heading. The time of the last full sync is now shown with "Sync now".

Fixes for a large deletion that reaches a second device only slowly or not at all.

  • Tapping the sync icon while a short background job was running (a note-switch sync, the startup preparation) could be lost. The sync you asked for now starts as soon as that job finishes, and asks before a large deletion.
  • A file that is still on the device after being moved to the trash is no longer treated as deleted. Before, the next sync could have uploaded it back to pCloud, and so to every other device.
  • The screen no longer stays on while the "delete most of your vault?" question waits for an answer.
  • The "sync is on hold" notice goes away once a sync gets past it.
  • The troubleshooting log (off by default) is now written as the sync goes, so a sync that gets cut off halfway still leaves a record. With the setting off nothing is written at all.

Adds an opt-in troubleshooting log.

  • New setting, "Upload a troubleshooting log" (off by default). It keeps a log of what this device's syncs did — file names and counts — and uploads it into the vault's own pCloud folder, as .pcloud-sync-debug/<device>.log. It goes nowhere but your pCloud. It's meant for a sync misbehaving on a phone or tablet, where the console can't be read, so it can be looked into from another device.
