Toolbox 1.1.0

Choose a tag to compare

@github-actions github-actions released this 11 Aug 10:34

Toolbox now lives in the menu bar. The hammer icon opens a panel with the full
toolbox — pick a tool, drop files in, run it — so you never need a window. Switch on
Hide Dock icon in Settings → General and Toolbox leaves the Dock entirely: no
Dock icon, no app switcher entry, no window at login. It takes effect immediately, no
relaunch, and the menu bar icon stays available so there's always a way back.

Open Toolbox at login is in the same place, for either mode.

Everything else is unchanged: files are still processed entirely on your Mac.

First public release.

Tools

  • Remove PDF Password — save a decrypted copy of a PDF you know the password for. Text stays selectable and searchable.
  • Convert Image Format — HEIC ⇄ PNG ⇄ JPEG ⇄ TIFF, and reads RAW.
  • Compress Images — lossless (format-preserving) or lossy with a quality slider. Never returns a file bigger than the original.
  • Resize Images — fit inside a box, longest side, percentage, or exact pixels. EXIF rotation is baked in, so iPhone photos come out upright.

Drag in as many files as you like; they process in parallel and one bad file never stops the batch. Originals are never modified and nothing is overwritten.

Installing

Download the DMG, open it, drag Toolbox to Applications. This build isn't notarized by Apple, so the first launch needs one extra step:

Right-click Toolbox in Applications → OpenOpen

That's once per machine; afterwards it's a normal double-click.

Updates

Toolbox updates itself from here on. It asks on first launch whether to check automatically, then checks daily — or use Toolbox → Check for Updates… any time. Every download is verified against a cryptographic signature before installing. Your files are processed on-device and never uploaded.
