ArkOS4Clone 20260905 Release Notes

No further updates are planned for this version in the short term, except for emulator upgrades or the addition of new devices.

Comparison with version 20260825

1. New Features

  • Added support for the CoolBoy RS16 device (thanks to Thai user ร้าน ราชาไอที for donating the hardware).

2. Functional Adjustments

  • Updated PPSSPP to the Gold Edition (no functional changes).
  • Fixed the selector issue on R36Max where it could not correctly select options.
  • Added a search function to DTB_SELECT.
  • Allowed users to dynamically switch the refresh rate from within the ES (EmulationStation) interface (note: refresh rates other than the default are not guaranteed to work on all screens; do not persist the setting unless you have confirmed compatibility with your device).
  • Updated the standalone Flycast emulator to version 2.7 and completed i18n Chinese language support.
  • Updated ES to allow users to individually adjust CPU, GPU, and DMC frequencies from the corresponding emulator configuration screen (thanks to user kx230 for the suggestion).
  • Renamed "Clone R36S Type4" to "Clone R36S Type 3 Panel 3".
  • Renamed "Game Console R36S Panel 4" to "Game Console R36S Panel 4 Type 1".
  • Renamed "Game Console R36S V22" to "Game Console R36S Panel 4 Type 2".
  • Removed "Game Console R36S V30" because V30 clone units have appeared on the market; the motherboard revision number is no longer used. Former V30 users should select "Game Console R36S Panel 4 Type 1" – built‑in Wi‑Fi will still work.

3. Bug Fixes

  • Fixed a bug in the ArkOS4Clone battery driver that caused speaker interference noise when the battery was fully charged. For users already experiencing speaker interference, please disconnect the battery, leave it idle for a while, then reconnect power. We apologise for the inconvenience. This version aligns the battery driver registers with the original driver and stores aging data in /var/lib. Thanks to user kx230 for testing.
  • Fixed a bug on V22 devices where the OTG enable pin was occupied by the vibration motor, preventing normal OTG functionality.
  • Fixed a bug on XU10 devices where there was no sound without headphones, and audio came from the speaker instead when headphones were inserted.
  • Fixed a bug on RP1 devices where the joystick axes were reversed.
  • Fixed a bug on R36TMax devices where the power LED did not indicate charging when the device was powered off.

4. Final Notes

  1. I had originally planned to test all supported devices before releasing, but after testing around 50 devices I decided to release now. Users are encouraged to test on their own devices. If you encounter issues such as incorrect joystick values, OTG port not working (only for external RTL8188 Wi‑Fi adapters), built‑in Wi‑Fi not functioning, no audio output, or headphone jack not working properly, please submit an issue.
  2. If you experience a black screen (with no backlight) after booting, please connect the charger for 15 minutes, then power on while connected to the charger.
  3. Oh, by the way—if anyone would like to create a theme for arkos4clone that supports multiple aspect ratios like 1:1, 16:9, 4:3, and 5:3, feel free to submit an issue or reach out to me directly. That said, a gorgeous UI isn't a top priority for me (I'm very much a function-over-form kind of person—as long as it works, I'm happy). But if someone is willing to help fill in the missing theme logos and make sure all those different resolutions scale properly, that would be even more appreciated!
