Highlights

  • Optional Cuda\Fusion capture and compiled replay with broadcasting, per-node dtype semantics, safe casts, layout transforms and native matmul/reduction boundaries.
  • Private-stream asynchronous execution, reusable synchronous scratch/stream/event storage and opt-in CUDA Graph replay for generated-kernel plans.
  • CudaArray::slice() with Python-style expressions, dynamic array selectors, positive steps, negative bounds, shared eager views and empty tensor support. Legacy invoke/indexing ranges remain compatible.
  • Reduced metadata transfers and replay synchronization; optional FusionGraph::setProfiling() and real Fusion training in fused.php.

Compatibility and validation

  • Linux, PHP >=8.1 <8.6. All ten PHP 8.1/8.2/8.3/8.4/8.5 NTS and ZTS configurations passed builds and CPU/API checks for this tag.
  • Latest GPU functionality validated on PHP 8.3 NTS, NVIDIA GeForce MX570 A: 41/41 GPU tests. This does not claim GPU runtime validation of every PHP/ZTS combination.
  • ZTS and Fusion remain experimental. Native CUDA Graph boundaries and reverse slices are not supported yet.
  • No prebuilt ABI-specific binaries are supplied; build from source or use PIE.

Benchmarks

The benchmark repository now includes eager/scoped/stream/CUDA Graph, mixed native replay and slicing cases. Reports are published at https://github.com/lcmialichi/php-gpu-tensors-benchmarks/tree/main/published-reports . Timings are hardware/workload-specific and not a universal speedup guarantee.

@lcmialichi lcmialichi released this 02 Oct 21:25

Beta

PHP GPU Tensors is a beta native CUDA extension for PHP tensor and array workloads. The public API is frozen for the 0.1 series; this release is not intended as a production-readiness claim.

Compatibility

  • Linux; PHP >=8.1 <8.6; NTS and ZTS
  • NVIDIA CUDA Toolkit and a compatible driver

Highlights

  • PIE installation and PHP 8.5 compatibility
  • ZTS module-global registration and thread-safe CUDA state handling
  • Standalone benchmarks moved to php-gpu-tensors-benchmarks

Verification

  • 26/26 GPU tests pass on PHP 8.5.11 NTS and ZTS, and PHP 8.1.34 ZTS, on an NVIDIA RTX A2000
  • Four concurrent PHP 8.5 ZTS runtimes passed CUDA tensor and NVRTC JIT workloads
  • PIE 1.5.1 installed the current source on PHP 8.1.34, 8.4.26, and 8.5.11

Install

pie install lcmialichi/php-gpu-tensors:0.1.0-beta.3 --with-cuda=/usr/local/cuda

An earlier checksum failure was specific to the Ubuntu 8.1.2-1ubuntu2.26 PHP package tested; the official PHP 8.1.34 build accepts hash_file() options and PIE installation succeeds. See the README for details.
