AVE 1.0.20
AVE 1.0.20 Release Notes
Status: Released.
Highlights
- Added direct canvas handles for resizing a selected graphic, including centered resizing and safe-area snapping behavior.
- Added timeline snapping for clip moves and trims, with Option available as a live temporary bypass during the gesture.
- Improved shared color controls with validated hex entry and screen eyedropper support across graphics, captions, and chroma key.
- Let available desktop updates start downloading directly from the status bar with clearer progress presentation.
- Made interrupted media-import recovery resilient to macOS volume remounts while preserving changed replacement files.
Release Scope
- Base range:
4842a56..8a61a4a. - No Local AI runtime, starter model, or pinned Sparkle helper changes.
- This remains a complete AVE package distributed through the existing signed Sparkle feed.
Verification
Release verification includes:
- Resizing whole graphics from canvas corners and edges, including modifier behavior and safe-area snapping.
- Moving and trimming timeline clips with snapping enabled, temporarily bypassing it with Option both before and during a gesture.
- Editing graphics, caption, and chroma-key colors through the shared picker and screen eyedropper.
- Downloading and installing the update from the previously published full AVE build.
- Recovering an interrupted media import after a simulated filesystem device-identity change while preserving changed files.
- Full renderer and render-worker builds, typecheck, AI prompt checks, regression suite, dependency audits, package audit, signing, notarization, stapling, DMG integrity, and Sparkle signature verification.
Known Constraints
- Screen color picking depends on macOS and Electron exposing the EyeDropper API.
- The complete download remains large because it includes AVE's Local AI runtime and starter models.
AVE 1.0.19
AVE 1.0.19 Release Notes
Status: Released.
Highlights
- Fixed manual media imports that could remain active indefinitely and prevent the project from saving.
- Kept reusable analysis lookup inside the existing project write transaction so importing previously analyzed footage no longer deadlocks project persistence.
- Added an explicit Remove action for missing exports while preserving Copy Path for recovery and inspection.
- Improved missing-state tags and made Projects, Exports, and Assets search fields compact until focused or populated.
Release Scope
- Base range:
e5c6a47..5b81357. - No Local AI runtime, starter model, updater, or package-content changes.
- This remains a complete AVE package distributed through the existing signed Sparkle feed.
Verification
Release verification includes:
- Importing new media into a saved project and confirming the import completes and the project saves.
- Reopening the project and confirming imported media persists.
- Removing missing export-history records without deleting any available rendered file.
- Targeted analysis-reuse, project-write coordination, and desktop import tests.
- Full renderer build, typecheck, AI prompt checks, regression suite, package audit, signing, notarization, stapling, DMG integrity, and Sparkle signature verification.
Known Constraints
- Removing a missing export clears only its history record; it does not recreate the missing rendered file.
- The complete download remains large because it includes AVE's Local AI runtime and starter models.
AVE 1.0.18
AVE 1.0.18 Release Notes
Status: Released.
Highlights
- Added secure local AVE MCP connections for Codex CLI and Claude Code.
- Connected assistants can inspect projects, assets, analysis evidence, selections, and timelines; review rendered timeline frames; create projects; import local media; prepare and apply edits; track jobs; and export videos.
- Added one-time guided connection setup. After the initial assistant restart, AVE detects future sessions automatically and can launch on the first AVE request.
- Added per-assistant edit-planning controls so either AVE or the connected assistant can prepare the edit plan.
- New connection profiles receive all eight AVE access permissions, with granular controls under Manage settings. Approve for me remains off by default.
- Added in-AVE project, media, edit-plan, and export approvals, plus visible job progress, cancellation, stale-state protection, and rollback-safe timeline application.
- Redesigned Home around project-aware prompts and focused next actions, with improved project, asset, export, and media-preview controls.
- Improved local model naming and recovery of older generated-media jobs.
- Fixed native export color correction so brightness, contrast, saturation, temperature, and tint more closely match AVE's preview, including rendered transition segments.
Verification
Release verification includes:
- Codex and Claude Code connection, restart, persistence, disconnect, and reconnect behavior.
- AVE closed-to-running launch from a connected assistant.
- Both connected-assistant and AVE planning modes.
- Default 8/8 access with Approve for me disabled.
- Project creation, media import, project inspection, timeline planning, precise edits, rendered-frame review, job cancellation, and export.
- Home project creation, quick actions, and media previews.
- Native preview/export color parity.
- Full signing, notarization, stapling, package audit, DMG integrity, and Sparkle signature verification.
- Update from public AVE 1.0.17 build 19 while preserving projects, settings, accounts, models, and linked folders.
Known Constraints
- Guided MCP setup currently supports local Codex CLI and Claude Code on the same Mac.
- Claude Desktop, ChatGPT's remote MCP model, hosted agents, public MCP hosting, and tunnelling are not supported.
- The assistant must be restarted once after initial connection or connection replacement.
- All eight access permissions do not disable approval. Project, media, edit, and export changes still require approval unless Approve for me is explicitly enabled.
- AVE Plans requires a configured AVE planning assistant. Codex Plans or Claude Code Plans works without one.
- Local media paths are passed to AVE, but media bytes do not travel through MCP.
- The complete DMG is approximately 1.23 GB because it includes AVE's Local AI runtime and starter models.
AVE 1.0.17
AVE 1.0.17 Release Notes
Status: Released.
Highlights
- Replaced large in-app macOS updates with a pinned, signed Sparkle updater.
- Added AVE 1.0.17 build 18 as a compact compatibility bridge for existing AVE 1.0.15 and 1.0.16 installations.
- Added AVE 1.0.17 build 19 as the complete package with the Local AI engine, Local Vision Lite, and Fast Captions.
- Added explicit progress, disk-space checks, retry guidance, and manual-download recovery while the complete package is installed.
- Preserved projects, settings, accounts, downloaded models, and linked model folders across both update steps.
- Restricted build 19 to build 18 or newer so existing users cannot bypass the compatibility bridge.
Release Contract
- Existing AVE 1.0.15 and 1.0.16 users receive build 18 from the existing release feed, then build 19 from the Sparkle feed.
- New users install the complete build 19 DMG directly.
- Build 18 excludes the bundled Local AI payload and remains below the legacy updater's practical artifact limit.
- Build 19 is distributed from the dedicated Sparkle release repository.
Verification
- Public signed AVE 1.0.15 and signed AVE 1.0.16 both installed build 18 through the legacy updater.
- The signed build 18 helper installed build 19 through a cryptographically signed isolated Sparkle feed.
- Interrupted build 19 downloads left build 18 usable and succeeded on retry.
- Project and settings fixtures remained byte-for-byte unchanged across update replacement.
- Build 17 was rejected by the build 19 minimum-update gate, build 18 was offered build 19, and build 19 reported no newer update.
- Both app bundles and DMGs passed
codesign, Gatekeeper, stapling, package audit, and disk-image verification.
Known Constraints
- The complete update is a one-time large download because it includes the Local AI engine and starter analysis models.
- AVE 1.0.15 and 1.0.16 must receive build 18 before build 19 becomes available.
