v2.2.0

@github-actions github-actions released this 11 Oct 19:39

GR4-LUTSmith 2.2.0 — the GR IV HDF

Put the look of a .cube LUT into your RICOH GR IV or GR IV HDF, in a window: no terminal, nothing else to
install. The app makes exactly the same firmware as the command line from the same LUT and choices.

New in 2.2.0: the GR IV HDF

  • One file for both cameras. RICOH ships one 1.11 update for the GR IV and the GR IV HDF, and the firmware
    GR4-LUTSmith makes now works on both. There is nothing to choose: start from RICOH's official 1.11 file as before.
  • Your look opens at 0 on the HDF too. Until now, on a GR IV HDF a personal look opened with RICOH's slider
    settings for its slot (for example Contrast +3 on Positive Film) instead of 0. Now every slider starts at 0 and
    grain is off, as on the GR IV. Tested on a GR IV HDF 1.11: works.
  • Nothing changes on a GR IV. A 2.2.0 file is the 2.1.1 file of the same looks plus only the HDF's slider
    settings; a GR IV reads exactly what it read with 2.1.1.
  • Files made before 2.2.0: fine on a GR IV. For a GR IV HDF, build the same look.json again; Check a
    firmware file
    (or check) tells you which files need it.
  • Never on a GR IV Monochrome or any other model.

The README (all 8 languages) also has a testing-status entry for colour after the curves (tested on a GR IV 1.11).

Earlier: 2.1.1 the guide in 8 languages; 2.1.0 several turns at once; 2.0.2 new app icon.

v2.1.1

@github-actions github-actions released this 11 Oct 11:37

GR4-LUTSmith 2.1.1 — the guide in 8 languages

Put the look of a .cube LUT into your RICOH GR IV, in a window: no terminal, nothing else to install.
The app makes exactly the same firmware as the command line from the same LUT and choices.

New in 2.1.1: the guide, reorganized and translated

  • Find your way faster: the guide opens with what you want to do (use the app, use the command line,
    build a shared look, check a firmware file, go back to RICOH's firmware) and takes you straight there.
    Putting the firmware on the camera is now one set of steps for the app and the command line alike.
  • Read it in your language: 日本語, 简体中文,
    繁體中文, 한국어,
    Deutsch, Français,
    Español, next to English. They use the app's own words and
    the camera's menu words, so the guide matches what you see on screen.

The app and the firmware it makes are unchanged from 2.1.0; only the version number is new.

Earlier: 2.1.0 several turns at once; 2.0.2 new app icon; 2.0.1 Start fit works in the app.

v2.1.0

@github-actions github-actions released this 11 Oct 09:41

GR4-LUTSmith 2.1.0 — several turns at once

Put the look of a .cube LUT into your RICOH GR IV, in a window: no terminal, nothing else to install.
The app makes exactly the same firmware as the command line from the same LUT and choices.

New in 2.1.0: turns side by side

Where the fit starts often decides how close it gets, so trying several turns pays off. They no longer have
to wait for each other: each turn runs on its own processor core, so three turns take about as long as one.

  • Choose how many run at once on the Fit page, from 1 up to one less than your computer's cores. The
    app shows how many cores you have, the memory each turn needs (about 0.8 GB) and how long the turns will take.
  • Watch each turn: its own row with its start (usual, or random with its seed), a bar of its stages, and
    what it is doing: waiting, the stage it is in, then its ΔE00 and whether it was kept.
  • Add turns while others run, with or without colour after the curves; they start when a core is free.
  • Stop all ends the running and waiting turns and keeps the ones that finished.
  • Results join the table as turns finish, always in turn order.

The results are exactly the same as running the same turns one after another; they are only ready sooner.

On the command line, fit and make take --jobs N to run up to N turns side by side (also for turns
added at "More turns?"). Without it, nothing changes.

Earlier: 2.0.2 new app icon; 2.0.1 Start fit works in the app.

What's in the app

  • Five clear steps: your camera's firmware, the LUT (and optionally a DNG), the slot, the fit, the build.
  • Pick the slot like on the camera: the Image Control menu with its own icons and names; give the slot
    your own name (checked against your camera language) and your own icon.
  • See how close it gets: several turns side by side, a results table, a ColorChecker board (LUT above,
    camera below) and, with a DNG, your own photo with a divider to compare.
  • Several looks in one firmware, with a meter for the room they share.

v2.0.2

@github-actions github-actions released this 11 Oct 07:51

GR4-LUTSmith 2.0.2 — new app icon

Put the look of a .cube LUT into your RICOH GR IV, now in a window: no terminal, nothing else to install.
The app makes exactly the same firmware as the command line from the same LUT and choices.

New in 2.0.2: a new app icon, "Tempered curve": a steel bar bent into a film tone curve, in the colours
steel takes when it is tempered. Nothing else changes.
2.0.1: Start fit works in the app (in 2.0.0 it ended the fit at once).

@github-actions github-actions released this 11 Oct 03:08

GR4-LUTSmith 2.0.1 — the desktop app

Put the look of a .cube LUT into your RICOH GR IV, now in a window: no terminal, nothing else to install.
The app makes exactly the same firmware as the command line from the same LUT and choices.

New in 2.0.1: Start fit works in the app. In 2.0.0 it ended the fit at once and the page stayed on
"fitting". The command line was not affected.
