Edit-ready Context Packs

code_context now returns the bounded source evidence needed to start a code task, with explicit gaps when evidence is missing. Default calls continue to return text; outputFormat: "pack" opts into the selected ContextPack DTO.

• Bounded source excerpts: primary declarations, strong callers/callees, relevant imports, changes and likely tests, with accurate file/line ranges. Overlap is deduplicated and current/base source remains separate. Large declarations fall back from complete source to whole-line windows to signature-only evidence.
• Inclusion reasons and provenance: concise reasons explain why items were selected; relationship evidence retains exact, import-scoped and name-only labels separately. No invented confidence scores.
• Added/modified/deleted classification: reliable frozen Git baselines classify declarations correctly, including the betaCaller addition regression. Ambiguous identity is explicitly unclassified; symbol renames are not guessed.
• Clean-tree likely tests: strong primary seeds identify related tests even without a dirty working tree.
• Deterministic natural-language recall: camelCase/snake_case tokenization, filename/path/signature terms, exact-symbol retention and bounded graph neighborhoods. No BM25, embeddings or architecture rewrite.
• Hard budgets: one final ContextPack is selected before rendering. Both text and serialized pack stay within the default 5000-character budget; small budgets use signatures/gaps rather than slicing code mid-line.
• Isolation and freshness preserved: project/worktree isolation and external file freshness remain supported, alongside Node 22/24, full/compact surfaces, v0.8 configuration and local-first indexing without an external API key.

Verification and scope

DSH Desktop 0.2.0-rc.2 real Agent verification passed: seven actual code_context calls, text/pack behavior, source and relationship evidence, likely tests, change classification, external freshness and default-root recovery. Actual recorded text budgets and 35 source ranges were audited. Automated quality fixtures and Native ToolRuntime checks are recorded separately in release evidence.

Web Context Card is deferred and is not included in this release. No token or speed improvement is claimed; those metrics were not measured.

GitHub Actions CI passed on the release commit for both Node 22 and 24, including frozen install, typecheck, tests, build and packaged-install smoke. Local verification also passed all 215 tests.

The maintainer manually published dsh-code-index 0.9.0 on npm. Registry checksum and compiled runtime match the verified candidate; the repository's final follow-up updates release documentation only.
