Printing now works. Confirmed on real hardware.

What changed

Windows drives your printer directly. v0.1.0's Print button exported a PDF and opened it in whatever viewer you had, which is not printing: that viewer's own dialog then decided the scale, and one left on "Fit to page" silently shrinks a layout that was measured against the paper.

Printendar shows its own print dialog. Windows 11 substitutes its modern print dialog for classic printing calls and cannot render a preview for them, so it reports "This app doesn't support print preview" over a dialog that otherwise prints fine. Printendar does not need Windows' preview: its own is the same page object the printer receives, drawn by the same renderer. The dialog shows that page, the printer, and the number of copies.

It warns before you waste paper. It reads the selected printer's unprintable margin and tells you, while you can still cancel, if the outer border will be cut off. It re-checks when you change printer, because they differ.

Landscape and paper size are set from the page, not left for you to notice. Landscape on one sheet is the whole point of the program.

Install

Unzip anywhere and run Printendar.exe. No setup, no admin prompt, no registry entry. You need 64-bit Windows and nothing else.

Windows SmartScreen will warn about an unsigned app: More info then Run anyway, or build it yourself with ./publish.ps1.

Getting a calendar in

Export a .ics from Outlook, Google Calendar, Apple Calendar or anything else that speaks iCalendar, then Open a calendar file. No account, no sign-in, no network.

Microsoft 365 sign-in still needs an Entra app registration that does not exist yet, so the button is disabled rather than failing when clicked. IT administrator setup in the app covers approving Printendar for an organisation or pointing it at your own registration.

Still missing

  • Google Calendar, and .ics subscription URLs (files only).
  • Printing on macOS and Linux, which still hand the PDF to your system viewer.
  • Only the month view. A week, an agenda and a tri-fold are planned.
  • A multi-day event repeats on each day rather than drawing as one spanning bar.
  • The window has only been run on Windows. The engine is built and tested on all three platforms in CI.
