Cannot see stderr output

Hello,

My engine prints a lot of useful debugging stuff to stderr, and I'd like to be able to see that when running lichess-bot. However, I cannot figure out how to make this appear.

I have included and double-checked that silence_stderr is set to false in my config. I have also tried running with 'python lichess-bot.py --logfile engine_logs.txt -v'. I have also tried running 'python lichess-bot.py 2> test.txt' but no luck. I have verified that my engine outputs stderr properly by redirecting this in local tests.

Is there something I'm missing about how to get lichess-bot to handle stderr and display it or put it in a log file?

You're not missing anything. You found a bug. The fix is #1199 and should be merged sometime this week. The problem is that the interpretation of the silence_stderr option in lichess-bot is the reverse of what it should be. If you want an immediate fix for your bot, set silence_stderr: True in your configuration file. Otherwise, wait for #1199 to me merged.

The PR has meen merged, so once you update your version of lichess-bot, you can change silence_stderr back to False.
