Release list
Flat 1.8.0
Polish before wider release.
- Tooltips are a light speech bubble that appears after a moment and clears itself.
- A proper menu: F1 for help, Ctrl+1/2/3 for the tabs, Ctrl+Q to quit.
- Help shows one topic at a time, each with its picture beside it.
- Software centres now show screenshots.
- Tidier inside: unused code removed.
Flat 1.7.1
Removing an app from My apps now clears its tick on All apps straight away, without restarting Flat.
Flat 1.7.0
- Smaller backups. Flat now leaves out what apps rebuild by themselves: caches, and in browsers the websites' offline copies and the parts they download for themselves. Bookmarks, passwords, history, extensions and site data all still come along. A real Brave profile went from 950 MB to 550 MB.
- Full: tick it on My apps for any app you want backed up whole, cache and all. The Size column shows what it costs.
- Help: a new page beside the version number explains every tab, with pictures.
Flat 1.6.3
My apps and Restore now show how much each app's settings take, with anything over 250 MB in amber, and the total says roughly how big the backup will be. Handy for deciding whether a heavy browser profile needs to come along.
Flat 1.6.2
The Restore tab now says, before you press Restore, that apps install at their newest version, and that a newer version can occasionally ask you to set something up again.
Flat 1.6.1
Keep settings now starts switched on for every app that has settings on this machine. Switching one off is remembered.
Flat 1.6.0
Three tabs.
- All apps: everything on this machine. Tick it and add it to My apps.
- My apps: your list. Switch on Keep settings for the apps whose settings matter, and press Back up…. The file carries the ticked apps and those settings.
- Restore: open a backup and you get the same list, with the switch already on for every app whose settings came along. Press Restore.
The bar that appeared when ticking rows is gone.
Flat 1.5.3
Apps join My apps only from All apps or from the search box, which finds a name or a pasted ID. The blank row is gone, and each app's ID and remote are shown rather than typed, so a list cannot hold a misspelt one. Plugins no longer appear in search as if they were apps.
Flat 1.5.2
An app on this machine that has saved nothing now says No settings in place of a Keep settings switch, on My apps and on All apps, so there is nothing to switch on by mistake. Bulk Keep settings leaves those apps fresh and says so.
Flat 1.5.1
The first public release of Lightmorphic Flat.
- All apps lists every Flatpak app on the machine; tick them and add them to My apps.
- My apps is the list you carry between machines. Mark each app Fresh or Keep settings.
- Back up settings… packs the Keep settings apps into one
.fmpackfile, and will not start while any of them is open. - On a new machine, one Install puts every app on and brings back the Keep settings apps' data from the backup.
