I wrote this patch while working on A10s support, then when I tried to get my Olinuxino A13_Micro running using commits from https://github.com/hehopmajieh/linux-sunxi/ I noticed a similar patch there: hehopmajieh@e7c1fc2 But I believe this fix is better because: 1) It properly checks for CONFIG_AXP rather then CONFIG_POWER, as the former can still be unset when the latter is set 2) Rather then just ignoring axp gpio calls when not build with axp support it complains loudly when other code tries to use axp gpio-s when built without Signed-off-by: Hans de Goede <hdegoede@redhat.com>
I was (wrongly) trying to set screen0_output_type to vga for the Olinuxino A13_Micro (the Olinuxino A13 * uses LCD output + some external logic for VGA-out). This leads to a NULL ref due to the sunxi-disp-vga code containing some special handling for composite out which tries to set up dac parameters on the 2nd tv-encoder. *But* the sun5i only has 1 tv-encoder. Even though this was mainly caused by a wrong fex file I'm still submitting this patch, because the A10s does have a fully functional display block, which likely does support VGA out. I encountered this while testing my A10s TV-stick, which uses uart0 for its uart test-pads. Having this device always registered + uart0_used set in the fex file, caused 2 uart driver to get registered for uart0, both the regular serial8250 as well as the 8250-sunxi driver, then when the first uart0 interrupt happens things go boom. - The majority of end-users wants to use the framebuffer, and all other options are aimed at that (e.g. G2D, Cedar, framebuffer memory reservation are all enabled by default) - Previous problems that required building these options as modules instead of into the kernel no longer exist (since this commit: linux-sunxi@199825c )

The user visible symptoms look like the X server gets stuck and fails to start. This patch addresses the problem in the following way: 1. Make sure that fix.smem_len is page aligned (like many of the other framebuffer drivers do). 2. If the splitting of framebuffer into two parts would result in unaligned second part, just disable double buffering. 3. Avoid wrapping the physical memory beyond the framebuffer for GET_UMP_SECURE_ID_BUF2 in the case if double buffering is not used by setting the size of UMP buffer to 0. Unfortunately some monitors need pixelclocks which we cannot generate, often we can workaround this by selecting a pixelclock which is near the requested pixelclock. This patch adds a table with modes + overriding / corrected pixelclock, and adds a first entry for the 1680x1050 mode of Samsung 225bw monitors. Signed-off-by: Hans de Goede <hdegoede@redhat.com>

Currently when new xattr block is created or released we we would call dquot_free_block() or dquot_alloc_block() respectively, among the else decrementing or incrementing the number of blocks assigned to the inode by one block. This however does not work for bigalloc file system because we always allocate/free the whole cluster so we have to count with that in dquot_free_block() and dquot_alloc_block() as well. Use the clusters-to-blocks conversion EXT4_C2B() when passing number of blocks to the dquot_alloc/free functions to fix the problem. The problem has been revealed by xfstests #117 (and possibly others). On unload, b43 produces a lockdep warning that can be summarized in the following way: ====================================================== [ INFO: possible circular locking dependency detected ] 3.8.0-wl+ #117 Not tainted ------------------------------------------------------- modprobe/5557 is trying to acquire lock: ((&wl->firmware_load)){+.+.+.}, at: [<ffffffff81062160>] flush_work+0x0/0x2a0 but task is already holding lock: (rtnl_mutex){+.+.+.}, at: [<ffffffff813bd7d2>] rtnl_lock+0x12/0x20 which lock already depends on the new lock. [ INFO: possible circular locking dependency detected ] ====================================================== The full output is available at http://lkml.indiana.edu/hypermail/linux/kernel/1302.3/00060.html. To summarize, commit 6b6fa58 added a 'cancel_work_sync(&wl->firmware_load)' call in the wrong place. The fix is to move the cancel_work_sync() call to b43_bcma_remove() and b43_ssb_remove(). Since commit 0142647 (avr32: Use generic idle loop) the kernel throws the following warning on avr32: WARNING: at 900322e4 [verbose debug info unavailable] Modules linked in: CPU: 0 PID: 0 Comm: swapper Not tainted 3.12.0-rc2 #117 task: 901c3ecc ti: 901c0000 task.ti: 901c0000 PC is at cpu_idle_poll_ctrl+0x1c/0x38 LR is at comparator_mode+0x3e/0x40 pc : [<900322e4>] lr : [<90014882>] Not tainted sp : 901c1f74 r12: 00000000 r11: 901c74a0 r10: 901d2510 r9 : 00000001 r8 : 901db4de r7 : 901c74a0 r6 : 00000001 r5 : 00410020 r4 : 901db574 r3 : 00410024 r2 : 90206fe0 r1 : 00000000 r0 : 007f0000 Flags: qvnzc Mode bits: hjmde....G CPU Mode: Supervisor Call trace: [<90039ede>] clockevents_set_mode+0x16/0x2e [<90039f00>] clockevents_shutdown+0xa/0x1e [<9003a078>] clockevents_exchange_device+0x58/0x70 [<9003a78c>] tick_check_new_device+0x38/0x54 [<9003a1a2>] clockevents_register_device+0x32/0x90 [<900035c4>] time_init+0xa8/0x108 [<90000520>] start_kernel+0x128/0x23c When the 'avr32_comparator' clockevent device is registered, the clockevent core sets the mode of that clockevent device to CLOCK_EVT_MODE_SHUTDOWN. Due to this, the 'comparator_mode' function calls the 'cpu_idle_poll_ctrl' to disables idle poll. This results in the aforementioned warning because the polling is not enabled yet. Change the code to only disable idle poll if it is enabled by the same function to avoid the warning. Currently we destroy children caches at the very beginning of kmem_cache_destroy(). This is wrong, because the root cache will not necessarily be destroyed in the end - if it has aliases (refcount > 0), kmem_cache_destroy() will simply decrement its refcount and return. In this case, at best we will get a bunch of warnings in dmesg, like this one: kmem_cache_destroy kmalloc-32:0: Slab cache still has objects CPU: 1 PID: 7139 Comm: modprobe Tainted: G B W 3.13.0+ #117 Call Trace: dump_stack+0x49/0x5b kmem_cache_destroy+0xdf/0xf0 kmem_cache_destroy_memcg_children+0x97/0xc0 kmem_cache_destroy+0xf/0xf0 xfs_mru_cache_uninit+0x21/0x30 [xfs] exit_xfs_fs+0x2e/0xc44 [xfs] SyS_delete_module+0x198/0x1f0 system_call_fastpath+0x16/0x1b At worst - if kmem_cache_destroy() will race with an allocation from a memcg cache - the kernel will panic. This patch fixes this by moving children caches destruction after the check if the cache has aliases. Plus, it forbids destroying a root cache if it still has children caches, because each children cache keeps a reference to its parent. Before my last bug fix, we had use-after-free so this patch fixes a latent bug. syzbot report : kasan: CONFIG_KASAN_INLINE enabled kasan: GPF could be caused by NULL-ptr deref or user memory access general protection fault: 0000 [jwrdegoede#1] PREEMPT SMP KASAN CPU: 1 PID: 16137 Comm: syz-executor.1 Not tainted 5.0.0+ linux-sunxi#117 Hardware name: Google Google Compute Engine/Google Compute Engine, BIOS Google 01/01/2011 RIP: 0010:x25_write_internal+0x1e8/0xdf0 net/x25/x25_subr.c:173 Code: 00 40 88 b5 e0 fe ff ff 0f 85 01 0b 00 00 48 8b 8b 80 04 00 00 48 ba 00 00 00 00 00 fc ff df 48 8d 79 1c 48 89 fe 48 c1 ee 03 <0f> b6 34 16 48 89 fa 83 e2 07 83 c2 03 40 38 f2 7c 09 40 84 f6 0f RSP: 0018:ffff888076717a08 EFLAGS: 00010207 RAX: ffff88805f2f2292 RBX: ffff8880a0ae6000 RCX: 0000000000000000 kobject: 'loop5' (0000000018d0d0ee): kobject_uevent_env RDX: dffffc0000000000 RSI: 0000000000000003 RDI: 000000000000001c RBP: ffff888076717b40 R08: ffff8880950e0580 R09: ffffed100be5e46d R10: ffffed100be5e46c R11: ffff88805f2f2363 R12: ffff888065579840 kobject: 'loop5' (0000000018d0d0ee): fill_kobj_path: path = '/devices/virtual/block/loop5' R13: 1ffff1100ece2f47 R14: 0000000000000013 R15: 0000000000000013 FS: 00007fb88cf43700(0000) GS:ffff8880ae900000(0000) knlGS:0000000000000000 CS: 0010 DS: 0000 ES: 0000 CR0: 0000000080050033 CR2: 00007f9a42a41028 CR3: 0000000087a67000 CR4: 00000000001406e0 DR0: 0000000000000000 DR1: 0000000000000000 DR2: 0000000000000000 DR3: 0000000000000000 DR6: 00000000fffe0ff0 DR7: 0000000000000400 Call Trace: x25_release+0xd0/0x340 net/x25/af_x25.c:658 __sock_release+0xd3/0x2b0 net/socket.c:579 sock_close+0x1b/0x30 net/socket.c:1162 __fput+0x2df/0x8d0 fs/file_table.c:278 ____fput+0x16/0x20 fs/file_table.c:309 task_work_run+0x14a/0x1c0 kernel/task_work.c:113 get_signal+0x1961/0x1d50 kernel/signal.c:2388 do_signal+0x87/0x1940 arch/x86/kernel/signal.c:816 exit_to_usermode_loop+0x244/0x2c0 arch/x86/entry/common.c:162 prepare_exit_to_usermode arch/x86/entry/common.c:197 [inline] syscall_return_slowpath arch/x86/entry/common.c:268 [inline] do_syscall_64+0x52d/0x610 arch/x86/entry/common.c:293 entry_SYSCALL_64_after_hwframe+0x49/0xbe RIP: 0033:0x457f29 Code: ad b8 fb ff c3 66 2e 0f 1f 84 00 00 00 00 00 66 90 48 89 f8 48 89 f7 48 89 d6 48 89 ca 4d 89 c2 4d 89 c8 4c 8b 4c 24 08 0f 05 <48> 3d 01 f0 ff ff 0f 83 7b b8 fb ff c3 66 2e 0f 1f 84 00 00 00 00 RSP: 002b:00007fb88cf42c78 EFLAGS: 00000246 ORIG_RAX: 000000000000002a RAX: fffffffffffffe00 RBX: 0000000000000003 RCX: 0000000000457f29 RDX: 0000000000000012 RSI: 0000000020000080 RDI: 0000000000000004 RBP: 000000000073bf00 R08: 0000000000000000 R09: 0000000000000000 R10: 0000000000000000 R11: 0000000000000246 R12: 00007fb88cf436d4 R13: 00000000004be462 R14: 00000000004cec98 R15: 00000000ffffffff Modules linked in: Fixes: 95d6ebd ("net/x25: fix use-after-free in x25_device_event()") Signed-off-by: Eric Dumazet <edumazet@google.com> Cc: andrew hendry <andrew.hendry@gmail.com> Reported-by: syzbot <syzkaller@googlegroups.com> Signed-off-by: David S. - ARCv2 LLSC spinlocks have smp_mb() both before and after the LLSC instructions, which is not required per lkmm ACQ/REL semantics. smp_mb() is only needed _after_ lock and _before_ unlock. So remove the extra barriers. The reason they were there was mainly historical. At the time of initial SMP Linux bringup on HS38 cores, I was too conservative, given the fluidity of both hw and sw. The last attempt to ditch the extra barrier showed some hackbench regression which is apparently not the case now (atleast for LLSC case, read on...) - EX based spinlocks (!CONFIG_ARC_HAS_LLSC) still needs the extra smp_mb(), not due to lkmm, but due to some hardware shenanigans. W/o that, hackbench triggers RCU stall splat so extra DMB is retained !LLSC based systems are not realistic Linux sstem anyways so they can afford to be a nit suboptimal ;-) | [ARCLinux]# for i in (seq 1 1 5) ; do hackbench; done | Running with 10 groups 400 process | INFO: task hackbench:158 blocked for more than 10 seconds. | Not tainted 4.20.0-00005-g96b18288a88e-dirty #117 | "echo 0 > /proc/sys/kernel/hung_task_timeout_secs" disables this message. | hackbench D 0 158 135 0x00000000 | | Stack Trace: | watchdog: BUG: soft lockup - CPU#3 stuck for 59s! vm_ops is now initialized in ib_uverbs_mmap() with the recent rdma mmap API changes. Earlier it was done in rdma_umap_priv_init() which would not be called unless a driver called rdma_user_mmap_io() in its mmap. i40iw does not use the rdma_user_mmap_io API but sets the vma's vm_private_data to a driver object. This now conflicts with the vm_op rdma_umap_close as priv pointer points to the i40iw driver object instead of the private data setup by core when rdma_user_mmap_io is called. This leads to a crash in rdma_umap_close with a mmap put being called when it should not have. Remove the redundant setting of the vma private_data in i40iw as it is not used. Also move i40iw over to use the rdma_user_mmap_io API. This gives the extra protection of having the mappings zapped when the context is detsroyed.
