Highlights

Community covers in the web player

  • Covers from the community database (the Series tab's rail and "Previous books" in Recaps and Characters) were blocked by the web player's security policy and showed as empty boxes. The server now fetches them and hands the player a thumbnail, so the player only ever talks to your server and listeners' browsers never contact the cover hosts.
  • Only a cover the community data for that book actually names is fetched, and a broken cover host is left alone for a minute rather than retried on every page.

A support card, dismissed on trust

  • After a month or so of use, admins see one small card on the Overview: AudioSilo is free, and if it's earning its keep you can sponsor its development on GitHub. I've donated hides it for good on the server, Not now for six months. Nothing is checked and nothing is unlocked: it's a thank-you, not a paywall. It never appears in the apps or the web player.
  • A permanent Support AudioSilo link sits in the account menu and on About.

Fixes

  • Year in listening could say more books finished than listened to. Books finished now counts each book once (two people finishing one book is one book), and books listened to includes books marked finished, so the two always agree, in the admin console and in the players' year cards.
  • Listening now showed raw chapter tags such as "024". The Overview, Live now and Activity name the chapter, or say "Chapter 24" when the tag names nothing.
  • Match: when a book's title and author tags are swapped or junk, the search box opens with what the folders say instead.
  • Web player: the "Back to ..." chip now shows after a big jump made by clicking the full player's seek bar (the hover tip used to hide it), and "Just met" characters appear as the chapter starts rather than up to 15 seconds later.

After updating

  • One database migration (0040) runs on first start.

Every change to the player API is additive, so existing iOS, Android and web players keep working.

Bundled web player:

  • The 2.0.0 player with community covers through the server, the full player's Undo chip after a seek-bar click, and "Just met" at the chapter's start.

Native builds embed the web player; ffmpeg/ffprobe are found locally or
auto-downloaded on first use. Prefer Docker for advanced / multi-user
setups: ghcr.io/kodestar/audiosilo-server.

AudioSilo is free; sponsors keep it going:
