This is the initial public release of the Microscope Image Annotation Tool! 🎉

This tool is designed to help researchers and technicians easily add scale bars, sample information, capture times, and custom remarks to microscope images. It supports individual image configuration and batch processing for efficient workflows.

✨ Core Features

  • Batch Image Import: Load multiple image files (JPG, PNG, TIFF) at once.
  • Image List with Thumbnails: View imported images with small previews for easy navigation.
  • Individual Image Configuration:
    • Set magnification.
    • Define image calibration width (actual width in cm for the given magnification).
    • Choose scale bar position (Left Bottom or Right Bottom).
    • Add Sample Name.
    • Add Capture Time.
    • Add custom Remarks next to the scale bar.
    • Customize Text Color and Scale Bar Color using a color picker.
  • Live Preview: Instantly see how annotations will appear on the selected image.
  • Automatic Scale Bar Calculation: The tool intelligently determines an appropriate scale bar length.
  • EXIF Metadata Reading: Attempts to automatically read magnification from image metadata if available.
  • Batch Apply Settings: Apply a common set of configurations from the main panel to multiple selected images.
  • Batch Processing & Export: Process all configured images and save them with annotations to a user-selected folder.
  • Font Handling: Includes logic to find suitable system fonts (including CJK fonts for compatibility with diverse data).
  • User Interface:
    • Available in English for broader accessibility.
    • Dark mode theme for comfortable viewing.

  • This is the first version, and we are keen to gather user feedback for future improvements.
  • The application will attempt to find suitable fonts on your system for rendering text. If you encounter issues with special characters, please ensure common fonts (like Arial, SimHei, Microsoft YaHei) are installed.
