2.5.0 is a big one. I've been moving Aurral toward a proper music library, while keeping Discovery focused on finding and acquiring music.

What's new

  • A native Library for browsing, organizing, and playing owned music.
  • Clearer paths between Discovery and Library. Discovery handles previews and acquisition, while Library handles full playback and owned-music actions.
  • Hosted Subsonic support for browsing and playing Aurral's library from compatible clients.
  • Flow tracks can be kept, promoted into the Library, and added to permanent playlists.
  • Local listening history and scrobbling.
  • Better playlist imports, syncing, download matching, and playback cleanup.

Things to try

  • Open Library and play an artist, album, or track directly.
  • Open an owned release from Discovery, then use Library for full playback.
  • Favorite a Flow track and check that it is kept in your Library.
  • Connect a Subsonic-compatible client to Aurral and browse or play your music.
  • Import a playlist from Spotify, ListenBrainz, or Last.fm.

Full change list

I've kept this release note focused on the changes you are most likely to notice. The full change list from 2.4.0 to 2.5.0 has every pull request and fix.

What's next

A future release will tackle the separate Lidarr and Aurral ownership modes. That includes split-root validation, fresh setup and migration checks, and support for media that does not have embedded MusicBrainz IDs.

After that, I'll continue the Aurral-owned writes, monitoring, acquisition, and optional Lidarr monitoring work. Those pieces are intentionally not part of this release.
