SpaceMouse UI v0.1.0-preview.5 — XPresso pan and sensitivity

Choose a tag to compare

@llealloo llealloo released this 18 Oct 18:47

What’s new

  • Consistent XPresso panning at every zoom level. Direct translation now compensates for live graph zoom to maintain continuous screen-space pan speed.
  • Independent XPresso sensitivity controls for horizontal pan, vertical pan, and zoom in Preferences > SpaceMouse UI.
  • The accepted 130% pan and 80% zoom tuning is now the 100% baseline, preserving the calibrated physical motion.

Works alongside the unmodified 3Dconnexion Cinema 4D plugin and driver. Keep them installed with 3DconnexionHelper running. Registered Maxon IDs are retained, and vendor software is not bundled.

Install or upgrade

  1. Download c4d-spacemouse-ui-v0.1.0-preview.5-macos-arm64.zip below, rather than the source-code archives.
  2. Locate your active Cinema 4D preferences folder using Open Preferences Folder, then quit Cinema 4D.
  3. Back up and replace the entire plugins/SpaceMouseUI folder with the extracted SpaceMouseUI folder. Do not merge old and new files.
  4. Restart Cinema 4D. Open Preferences > SpaceMouse UI or Extensions > SpaceMouse UI.

Full instructions are in the attached INSTALLATION.md, also included in the ZIP. For native Open/Save dialog scrolling, enable Cinema 4D under macOS Privacy & Security > Accessibility (Device Control and Data Access on some versions).

Validation and compatibility

  • 72 regression tests passed.
  • The exact prepared release ZIP was verified against its SHA-256 checksum, all per-file checksums, and ZIP integrity checks.
  • All six extracted native libraries are ARM64 with valid ad-hoc signatures and a macOS 14.0 deployment target.

Tested only on macOS Apple Silicon with Cinema 4D 2027. The macOS 14.0 deployment target does not establish runtime compatibility on every older macOS release. Windows, Linux, Intel Macs, and other Cinema 4D versions have not been tested. Some native integrations remain guarded for inspected implementations.

This is an experimental prerelease. Libraries are ad-hoc signed, not Developer ID signed or notarized. The MIT license, installation guide, and per-file checksums are included. SHA256SUMS.txt is attached separately for download verification.

SpaceMouse UI v0.1.0-preview.4 — XPresso and Timeline improvements

Choose a tag to compare

@llealloo llealloo released this 18 Oct 11:03

What’s new

  • Smooth, graph-centered pan and proportional zoom for legacy XPresso, in floating and docked layouts.
  • More robust Timeline and XPresso integration through guarded runtime discovery and an SDK-built native bridge. Unsupported implementations fail closed.
  • Improved Timeline user-area discovery, scrolling, coordinate conversion, and redraw.
  • Corrected shared axis mapping: cap lift/drop pans or scrolls vertically; fore/aft motion zooms.
  • All six native binaries now target macOS 14.0, avoiding an accidental macOS 27 minimum inherited from Xcode.

Works alongside the unmodified 3Dconnexion Cinema 4D plugin and driver. Keep them installed and 3DconnexionHelper running; vendor software is not bundled. Registered Maxon IDs are retained.

Install or upgrade

  1. Download c4d-spacemouse-ui-v0.1.0-preview.4-macos-arm64.zip below, rather than the source-code archives.
  2. Locate the active Cinema 4D preferences folder using Open Preferences Folder, then quit Cinema 4D.
  3. Back up and replace the entire plugins/SpaceMouseUI folder with the extracted SpaceMouseUI folder. Do not merge old and new files.
  4. Restart Cinema 4D. Open Preferences > SpaceMouse UI or Extensions > SpaceMouse UI.

For native Open/Save dialog scrolling, enable Cinema 4D under macOS Privacy & Security > Accessibility (Device Control and Data Access on some versions). Full instructions are in INSTALLATION.md, attached below and included in the ZIP.

Verification and compatibility

  • 70 regression tests passed.
  • The user completed the final Cinema 4D smoke test. The final package’s executable code and binaries match that installed build.
  • Verified all six binaries in the extracted ZIP: ARM64, valid ad-hoc signatures, macOS 14.0 deployment target. Package checksums and ZIP integrity verified.

Tested only on macOS Apple Silicon with Cinema 4D 2027. A macOS 14.0 deployment target does not establish runtime compatibility on every older macOS version; testing on actual macOS 14/15 systems remains outstanding. Windows, Linux, Intel Macs, and other Cinema 4D versions have not been tested. Some native compatibility fixes still require inspected builds and may disable themselves on unsupported implementations.

This remains an experimental prerelease. Libraries are ad-hoc signed, not Developer ID signed or notarized; macOS may show a loading warning. The MIT license and per-file checksums are included. SHA256SUMS.txt provides the ZIP checksum.

SpaceMouse UI v0.1.0-preview.3 — Floating Node Editor fix

Choose a tag to compare

@llealloo llealloo released this 18 Oct 04:14

Fix: navigation after adding nodes in a floating editor

SpaceMouse pan/zoom now keeps working after Command-drag duplication or adding a node through the double-click search/add menu, without closing and reopening the Node Editor.

Cinema 4D changes the floating window title to Node Editor * after an edit. Graph discovery and input routing previously required the exact title Node Editor; both now recognize the modified title. The floating inspector remains routable too. Docked navigation, sensitivity settings, registered Maxon IDs, and the unmodified 3Dconnexion plugin/driver integration are preserved.

Verification

  • All 50 offline regression tests passed, including modified-title discovery, guarded surface recognition, graph/inspector routing, registration, and existing navigation tests.
  • Live macOS/C4D testing confirmed recovery in the already-open modified window. The user confirmed pan/zoom continues working after both Command-drag duplication and search-menu node creation.
  • ZIP integrity, per-file checksums, ARM64 native helpers, and signatures verified. The installed plugin matches this release package.

Install or upgrade

  1. Download c4d-spacemouse-ui-v0.1.0-preview.3-macos-arm64.zip below (not the source archives).
Settings: Preferences > SpaceMouse UI or Extensions > SpaceMouse UI.

Keep the official 3Dconnexion Cinema 4D plugin and driver installed and 3DconnexionHelper running. For native Open/Save dialog scrolling, enable Cinema 4D under macOS Privacy & Security > Accessibility (Device Control and Data Access on some versions).

Compatibility

Tested only on macOS Apple Silicon with Cinema 4D 2027. This is an experimental macOS ARM64 prerelease. Windows, Linux, Intel Macs, and other C4D versions have not been tested. Some compatibility fixes require exact inspected C4D/3Dconnexion builds; the orthographic-hover workaround expects /Applications/Maxon Cinema 4D 2027. Libraries are ad-hoc signed, not Developer ID signed or notarized.

The ZIP includes the MIT license, installation guide, and per-file checksums. INSTALLATION.md and SHA256SUMS.txt are also attached separately. Vendor components retain their own licenses and are not bundled.

SpaceMouse UI v0.1.0-preview.2 — Registered Maxon IDs

Choose a tag to compare

@llealloo llealloo released this 18 Oct 00:15

Registered Maxon plugin IDs

Replaces temporary, dynamically selected IDs with permanent IDs registered to llealloo:

Component Registered ID
Settings Command 1071577
Input Service 1071578
Preferences 1071579

Both normal startup and standalone Preferences registration now use the same shared definitions. The built package includes these definitions. Navigation behavior and the vendor hook ID are unchanged.

Platform and compatibility

Only tested on macOS Apple Silicon with Cinema 4D 2027. The download contains macOS ARM64 binaries. Windows, Linux, Intel Macs, and other C4D versions have not been tested.

Keep the unmodified official 3Dconnexion Cinema 4D plugin and driver installed, with 3DconnexionHelper running. They handle 3D viewport navigation while SpaceMouse UI adds panel navigation and compatibility fixes. No vendor files or driver profiles are changed. Vendor software is not bundled.

This remains an experimental prerelease: some native integrations require exact inspected C4D/3Dconnexion builds. The orthographic-hover workaround expects /Applications/Maxon Cinema 4D 2027. Libraries are ad-hoc signed, not Developer ID signed or notarized.

Install or upgrade

  1. Download c4d-spacemouse-ui-v0.1.0-preview.2-macos-arm64.zip below, rather than the source-code archives.
  2. Locate your active Cinema 4D preferences folder using Open Preferences Folder, then quit Cinema 4D.
  3. Back up and replace the entire existing plugins/SpaceMouseUI folder with the extracted SpaceMouseUI folder. Do not merge old and new plugin files. The entry point should be plugins/SpaceMouseUI/SpaceMouseUI.pyp.
  4. Restart Cinema 4D and open Preferences > SpaceMouse UI or Extensions > SpaceMouse UI.

For native Open/Save dialog scrolling, enable Cinema 4D under macOS Privacy & Security > Accessibility (Device Control and Data Access on some versions). Quit any old SpaceMouse C4D Trial companion app. To uninstall, quit Cinema 4D and remove the SpaceMouseUI plugin folder.

The ZIP includes the MIT license, INSTALLATION.md, and per-file checksums. The installation guide and SHA256SUMS.txt are also attached separately.

Verification

  • All 45 offline regression tests passed, including startup and standalone Preferences registration with the three assigned IDs.
  • The three registration tests also passed against the extracted release ZIP.
  • All five native helpers rebuilt as macOS ARM64; signatures, package checksums, and ZIP integrity verified.
  • No new interactive Cinema 4D session was tested during this update.

Changes since preview.1

SpaceMouse UI v0.1.0-preview.1 — macOS Apple Silicon

Choose a tag to compare

@llealloo llealloo released this 17 Oct 22:57

Initial experimental preview

Only tested on macOS Apple Silicon with Cinema 4D 2027. This download contains macOS ARM64 binaries. Windows, Linux, Intel Macs, and other Cinema 4D versions have not been tested.

Works with your existing 3Dconnexion setup

Keep the official 3Dconnexion Cinema 4D plugin and driver installed, with 3DconnexionHelper running. They continue to handle 3D viewport navigation. SpaceMouse UI adds navigation to other panels; it does not replace or modify vendor files or driver profiles. Its runtime compatibility adapters are reversible. Vendor software is not bundled.

Additions and fixes

  • Pan and graph-centered zoom in floating and docked Node Editors.
  • Smooth Dope Sheet/F-Curve navigation and Timeline track-list scrolling.
  • Scrolling in lists, inspectors, and native macOS Open/Save dialogs.
  • Independent per-panel sensitivity settings.
  • Compatibility workarounds for component-mode stutter and orthographic component hover.

Install

  1. Download c4d-spacemouse-ui-v0.1.0-preview.1-macos-arm64.zip below (not the source-code archives).
  2. Locate your active Cinema 4D preferences folder using Open Preferences Folder, then quit Cinema 4D.
  3. Extract the ZIP and copy SpaceMouseUI into the preferences folder’s plugins directory. The entry point should be plugins/SpaceMouseUI/SpaceMouseUI.pyp.
  4. Restart Cinema 4D. Open Preferences > SpaceMouse UI or Extensions > SpaceMouse UI.

For Open/Save dialog scrolling, enable Cinema 4D in macOS Privacy & Security > Accessibility (Device Control and Data Access on some versions). Quit the older SpaceMouse C4D Trial companion app if installed. Back up and replace the entire plugin folder when upgrading. To uninstall, quit Cinema 4D and remove that folder.

The attached INSTALLATION.md is also inside the ZIP and covers compatibility, upgrades, permissions, and recovery. SHA256SUMS.txt provides the ZIP checksum; the package also includes individual file checksums and the MIT license.

Preview limitations

Temporary Maxon plugin IDs are still used; dedicated IDs are pending and conflicts with other plugins remain possible. Some native compatibility fixes require exact inspected C4D/3Dconnexion builds and may disable themselves on other builds. The orthographic-hover workaround currently expects /Applications/Maxon Cinema 4D 2027. Libraries are ad-hoc signed, not Developer ID signed or notarized.

Validation

All 42 offline regression tests passed. All five compiled helpers were verified as ARM64 and their ad-hoc signatures checked. Package checksums and ZIP integrity were verified. This packaging pass did not perform a new interactive Cinema 4D test.

The README now focuses on features and installation; earlier trials are preserved in docs/DEVELOPMENT_HISTORY.md.
