[0.6.0] — 2026-10-15

Advanced annotations, new visual identity and open-source release preparation.

Added (project)

  • Open-source release preparation: MIT / Apache-2.0 licences, CONTRIBUTING.md, SECURITY.md,
    CODE_OF_CONDUCT.md, issue and pull request templates, bilingual README, English translations of every
    document in docs/ and of the changelog (docs/README.md is the index).
  • New logo (light and dark variants): symbol in the tab strip, full logo on the home screen and in the About
    box, .ico regenerated by scripts/make_icon.py.
  • Project website: https://navanem.com/projets/sunipdf/ (link in About, Cargo.toml, README).

Added

  • Advanced annotations (Add comments tool): freehand drawing (smoothed stroke), free text box, rectangle,
    ellipse, line and arrow, all as real PDF annotations (explicit appearance: other readers show them);
    selecting an existing annotation to move, resize, recolour, edit the text of or delete it (shortcuts A, D, F);
    floating bar (colour, width, fill, opacity, arrow, text size).
  • Clickable links: creation (page or http / https / mailto address), click on an internal link, and for an
    external address a confirmation dialog that shows the full address before the browser opens; launch or script
    actions are never run.
  • Reply threads and review statuses in the Comments panel (indented replies, status Accepted / Rejected /
    Cancelled / Completed, remembered author, date, thread deletion), written according to the PDF standard (display
    in Acrobat / Foxit not verified).
  • CLI: annotations, annotate (ink, square, circle, line, arrow, freetext, link), reply,
    review-state, annotation-delete (41 commands).
  • Fixture annotated.pdf (12 annotations from several producers); 40 more tests (207 in total).

Changed

  • Annotations are written by lopdf with their own appearance: rotated or cropped pages are right (free text upright
    on screen), a password-protected document stays protected.
  • Annotation enumeration no longer stops at the first unreadable entry (indices aligned with /Annots).

Windows downloads: x64 portable ZIP and MSI installer, ARM64 portable ZIP, and SHA256 checksums. ARM64 is built in CI and has not been run on ARM64 hardware.
