What's new

Distraction Free Mode

  • New Toggle Distraction Free Mode command in the command panel (Ctrl+Shift+P): the header, footer, and per-article action buttons disappear so only what you're reading remains. All keyboard controls keep working, and a toast confirms each toggle. The mode lasts for the session.

Feeds that stay fast

  • Large feeds now render a bounded window of article rows instead of building the whole list up front. Timeline and Research views start with 120 rows and append 60 more as you scroll; grouped feeds budget rows across feeds and load the rest as each feed is opened or scrolled into range. Keyboard navigation still reaches rows outside the window.
  • Fixed window sizing on Linux tiling window managers.

Videos

  • Downloaded videos now resume where you stopped watching, even after closing and reopening the article.
  • New per-feed Download Videos Automatically preference: future videos in that feed download on their own (videos already in the feed are left untouched).
  • Clicking Download Video now marks the article read immediately.
  • Mastodon posts now render their videos and audio inline, playable right in the app.
  • When a video download needs FFmpeg and it isn't installed, the app now shows you how to install it instead of failing with a cryptic error.

Subscriptions & preferences

  • The per-feed "open original by default" preference now round-trips through OPML export and import.

Fixes

  • Bluesky images are no longer rendered smaller than their column.
  • Articles purged from storage no longer reappear as unread after a refresh.
