Pokémon Ruby & Sapphire NDS v16.3

Choose a tag to compare

@logdog2325 logdog2325 released this 10 Oct 04:35

Important fixes on top of v16.2. Please update.

Fixes:

  • Losing a battle after healing at Rustboro's Pokémon Center could send you to Dewford's Pokémon Center instead, before Mr. Briney ever sails there, leaving you stuck. You now always wake up at the last Pokémon Center you visited (or at home if you haven't visited one yet). Teleport had the same problem and is fixed too.
  • If your save is already stuck in Dewford because of this bug: patch v16.3, load your save and walk into Dewford's Pokémon Center. The game returns you to Rustboro's Pokémon Center. This only happens if you have never talked to Mr. Briney about sailing; players who sailed to Dewford normally are never moved.
  • Fainting no longer strands you on the wrong side of the sea: as in Ruby and Sapphire, Mr. Briney's boat now goes back to the side where you wake up (for example, fainting in Granite Cave after last healing in Rustboro).
  • Mt. Pyre's outside area and Shoal Cave's inner room could become the place you wake up after fainting. Now only Pokémon Centers (and your house) can.

Changes:

  • Pokémon Gym roofs are orange, like in Ruby and Sapphire.
  • Brendan's, May's and Wally's battle back sprites now use only their original Ruby/Sapphire sprites.

Tested by losing battles on purpose in the game (Rustboro, Briney's boat, the Dewford rescue, a normal Dewford trip), plus a new game with both sets of Birch's choices. Saves from v16.x carry over.

Apply one patch to your own Pokémon Black Version 2 dump (game code IREO, CRC32 D4427FD1).

Outdated: please use v16.3. It fixes a softlock where losing after healing in Rustboro could leave you stuck in Dewford.

Graphical fixes on top of v16.1. Nothing about gameplay, saves or collision changed.

  • Fortree City: the tree houses stand where they belong, on stilts with plank rims, and the walkways stand on posts. Pits that had sunk into the ground around unreachable tiles are gone; the same fix applies on Routes 111–115 and 119–121, Fallarbor, Lavaridge and Ever Grande.
  • Caves: raised floors get a proper edge, and rock no longer juts out over water (Meteor Falls, Victory Road, Shoal Cave, Altering Cave, Sky Pillar).
  • Route 113, Jagged Pass and Mt. Chimney: ash-covered ground and grass use Black 2's winter art instead of white boxes.
  • Underwater: smooth trench walls, leaning seaweed, and no more black specks between wall pieces (all 8 Dive maps).

Known issue: Meteor Falls' waterfall still shows vertical lines.

Tested from a new game with both sets of Birch's choices (Fairy on + Hoenn music, Fairy off + Black 2 music) and in Ruby: the starter, Pokédex, a catch, a Center heal, level-ups, an evolution, the town map and save/Continue.

Apply one patch to your own Pokémon Black Version 2 dump (game code IREO, CRC32 D4427FD1). Saves from v16 and v16.1 carry over.

Outdated: please use v16.3. It fixes a softlock where losing after healing in Rustboro could leave you stuck in Dewford.

Fixes v16's freeze. Everything from v16 is included (see the v16 release for the full list).

Fixes:

  • With Hoenn music on, the game froze when Professor Birch gave you your starter. The same bug would have frozen every gift Pokémon, catch and evolution. All are fixed, and the build now refuses any jingle that could cause it.
  • Pokémon Center counters have Black 2's own counter top instead of the floor colour.

Tested from a new game with both sets of Birch's choices (Fairy on + Hoenn music, Fairy off + Black 2 music) and in Ruby: the starter, Pokédex, a catch, the summary, a Center heal, a level-up, an evolution, the town map and save/Continue.

If you started a v16 game and it froze at the starter, patch v16.1 and start a new game. Saves made before the freeze, and v15.x saves, keep working.

Apply one patch to your own Pokémon Black Version 2 dump (game code IREO, CRC32 D4427FD1).

@logdog2325 logdog2325 released this 09 Oct 06:32

Known issue: v16 freezes when Professor Birch gives you your starter in the lab. Fixed in v16.1: please use v16.1.

Pokémon Sapphire NDS and Pokémon Ruby NDS, version 16.

New:

  • At the start of a new game, Professor Birch asks three questions, fixed for that save:
    • the Fairy type (Gen 6 type chart, Fairy-type Pokémon, new Fairy moves such as Moonblast and Play Rough, Pixie Plate and Fairy Gem);
    • modern or classic (Gen 3) physical/special split;
    • Hoenn's original soundtrack, played on Black 2's instruments, or Black 2's music.
  • The Hoenn Battle Tower (Lv. 50 and Lv. 100, 7-battle sets, prizes, ribbons) and the Pokémon World Tournament in its own building on the Battle Tower island.
  • The Hoenn town map: the Town Map item, Fly and the Pokémon Center wall maps.
  • The Hoenn Pokédex, with Sapphire's and Ruby's own entries.
  • Brendan's and May's battle back sprites from Sapphire.
  • Indoor fixes (people no longer clip into Pokémon Center counters) and everything from v15.3.

The three choices are made at the start of a new game. An existing save keeps working, but it plays with Fairy off, the modern split and Black 2's music. Start a new game to choose.

Apply one patch to your own Pokémon Black Version 2 dump (game code IREO, CRC32 D4427FD1). Use in-game saves when updating, not emulator save states. This is a big update: please report bugs on the Issues page.

Hotfix for v15.2. Please update: v15.2 crashed when you opened the Pokédex ("An error has occurred").

Fixes:

  • The Pokédex opens and works (Hoenn's 202 Pokémon in Sapphire's order). Existing v15.2 saves work: just patch the new version and continue.
  • Littleroot's moving trucks no longer reappear when you come back to town.
  • The PC in your bedroom works (Pokémon storage, Mailbox).
  • The Professor's PC is Prof. Birch's and rates your Hoenn Pokédex.
