v0.4.0
SimpleBench 0.4.0 adds Chat AI, managed local Android phones, image and SVG previews, and VS Code theme import and export.
- Chat with OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, xAI, OpenRouter, DeepSeek, and NVIDIA using your own provider connections. Stream responses, attach files explicitly, regenerate answers, and branch conversations by editing messages.
- Search and reopen local conversations from the history sidebar, keep drafts across workspace switches, and export conversations as Markdown or JSON. Store API keys in the system key store or explicitly choose session-only storage.
- Set up local Android phones from Settings and open them in tabs or split panels. Manage devices and system images, type with Unicode support, paste intentionally, install APKs, capture screenshots, and zoom the preview. Android setup and Start are currently enabled only on macOS Apple Silicon; Windows, Linux, and Intel macOS remain gated pending native qualification.
- Preview supported images with fit and actual-size views, and view live SVG previews alongside their source code.
- Import and export VS Code color and icon themes, with independent color, file icon, and product icon selections.
- See clearer terminal titles and agent activity indicators, and configure Claude Code notifications when it finishes or needs input while SimpleBench is in the background.
- Copy folder paths from Explorer and improve editor selection contrast, panel sizing, and the close preparation dialog.
- Preserve terminal content during sidebar transitions, route dropped files to the correct terminal pane, and reduce idle CPU use from macOS titlebar updates.

Users of v0.3.0 on Windows and macOS can update from Settings → About. Linux users should update through their package manager or download the appropriate package. Saved sessions restore layouts and working directories with fresh shells; terminal output and unsaved file contents are not restored. Legacy session v1/v2 files receive an exact backup before upgrading to the Chat AI-aware v3 format. Chat history and attachments are private local files, not encrypted storage.
