CX Deck v0.8.2 is a small UX-focused update.

  • Removes the large CX Deck iTerm badge.
  • Uses native iTerm session titles for compact pane labeling.
  • Makes scrollback timestamps opt-in by default.
  • Makes cx --yolo and other bare Codex launch flags work naturally.
  • Preserves explicit timestamp preferences.
  • Does not change Codex conversation identity, zmx persistence, runtime generations, workspace behavior, or resume semantics.

For compact pane labels, enable:

iTerm2 Settings
→ Appearance
→ Panes
→ Show per-pane title bar with split panes

Highlights

CX Deck keeps interactive Codex sessions persistent while preserving a native iTerm2 experience. Closing a terminal view no longer kills the Codex conversation; reopen or reconstruct the view and continue the exact conversation.

Exact workspaces

  • Capture and restore exact native iTerm2 window, tab, and ordered split topology.
  • Reuse and move verified iTerm sessions without restarting Codex or replacing zmx generations.
  • Verify restored topology structurally. Split ratios and window frames remain best-effort presentation hints.

Navigation and view health

  • Unified conversation, runtime, and presentation health inventory.
  • Metadata-only search, next/previous focus, and workspace-scoped presentation repair.
  • Exact Codex UUID identity and fail-closed duplicate protection remain unchanged.

Safety and compatibility

  • zmx remains the only persistence layer; iTerm2 remains the presentation layer.
  • Existing v0.7 zmx generations remain usable without restart or relabeling.
  • v0.8.1 fixes scalar GUID/TTY materialization in iTerm inventory after supported session moves.
  • Requires zmx 0.8.1 or newer.
  • Exact workspace capture and restore additionally require iterm2==2.23; ordinary CX Deck commands do not.

Validation

Validated locally with 338 unit/integration tests, six disposable real-zmx integration tests, 11/11 direct-vs-zmx interaction comparisons, and disposable real-iTerm capture, move/reuse, restore, and navigation acceptance tests.
