@github-actions github-actions released this 03 Oct 09:29
3159b5c

First public release.

Added

  • deck.yaml → static deck.html renderer, with local, inline and cdn runtime modes.

  • Viewer: keyboard and hash navigation, static mode, speaker notes, presenter window, fullscreen, print to PDF.

  • Themes: build, atelier, aurora and azure.

  • 32 templates: Essentials, structure, diagrams, content, media, data-driven charts and technical decks.

  • Editor: slide rail, inline text editing, typed inspector, images, overlays with snapping, reorder, undo/redo, autosave.

  • Template editor with live preview and validation.

  • Copilot assistant with slide or deck scope and deck-only tools, where each turn is one undo step.

  • GitHub Copilot skill (deckforge skill install-copilot).

  • CLI: new, build, templates, edit, serve, skill.

  • Documentation site at https://deckforge.vuptime.io/, with screenshots and live example decks.

  • deckforge icon: favicon for the editor and the site, and a social card.

  • Community files, issue and pull request templates, Dependabot, and a release workflow that runs on v* tags.

  • Editor: a Themes theme editor. Edit every theme token (colours with pickers, fonts, radii, spacing, motion, shadow, or the raw YAML) with a live preview of sample slides and contrast warnings. Ask Copilot to generate a palette from a description, then save to the deck's themes/ or ~/.config/deckforge/themes and apply it to the deck. New endpoints: PUT /api/themes/<name> and POST /api/agent/theme.

  • PowerPoint export: deckforge export <deck> and the editor's PowerPoint button write an editable deck.pptx
with native text boxes, shapes, pictures, links and speaker notes. Icons and gradients become vector pictures.
The CLI uses Playwright (optional dependency) to lay the deck out in headless Chromium.

  • Editor: drag an edge to resize the slide rail, the inspector or the Copilot panel. You can also use the keyboard, and double-click restores the default width. The widths persist, and rail thumbnails scale with the rail.

  • Copilot: continue the editor's conversation in Copilot CLI or the GitHub Copilot app. The drawer shows the session ID, and Continue in Copilot releases the session and gives a copilot --resume command or opens ghapp://sessions/<id>. The editor resumes its last conversation for each deck.

  • deckforge mcp [<deck>]: a stdio MCP server with the deck tools. With a running deckforge edit, its changes appear live and can be undone. Without a deck it uses the deck.yaml of the Copilot session's folder. deckforge mcp --install, or Add the deck tools to Copilot in the editor, registers it in ~/.copilot/mcp-config.json.

  • Copilot: a change summary after each turn lists the slides and slots touched and the number of tool calls, next to
Undo these changes. Agent log downloads the tool calls of every turn as JSON (GET /api/agent/log).

  • Docs: new positioning as agent-native presentations, an agent model
page with a tool catalogue generated from the code (npm run docs:tools), and a
    Why deckforge comparison page.

  • agent-native example (deckforge new <dir> --example agent-native): a deck written from a brief by the Copilot skill,
with its storyline plan and a validation.json report (build and layout check), regenerated by
node scripts/validate-example.js. It is published as a live demo on the docs site.

  • Docs: an animated demo of a whole-deck Copilot turn, its highlighted changes and a single undo
(node scripts/screenshots.js --only demo, needs ffmpeg).

  • Offline technical decks (#20):

    • number slots and data-driven chart templates: bars (horizontal or vertical, hatched projected part), donut,
compare-bars, kpis and table. Bar lengths, segments and totals are computed from the values when the deck is
      rendered ({{@pct.f}}, {{@share.f}}, {{@start.f}}, {{items.@sum.f}}…), with a generated aria-label and
screen-reader table. The inspector edits numbers with a number field.
    • Technical templates: timeline, options-matrix, risk-register, decision, funnel and checklist.
    • Starter decks: deckforge new <dir> --example architecture-review | postmortem | assessment | decision-record.
    • Per-slide sources:, listed in the speaker notes and on a generated Sources appendix slide (meta.sourcesSlide).
    • Inline decks get a Content-Security-Policy that blocks the network, and deckforge build warns about the remote
      resources it blocks. deckforge build --check-offline fails on any http(s) resource;
--strip-notes leaves the speaker notes out. Inline decks embed the theme's own font files.
    • deckforge diff <a> <b>: a per-slide summary of the changes for pull request reviews.
    • Guides: Technical decks, Share offline, and Decks in git and CI (with a GitHub Actions workflow).
  • Validation warns about card fields a template doesn't declare, usually a value with an unquoted comma.

  • PowerPoint export: repeating-linear-gradient backgrounds (hatching) become vector pictures.

Fixed

  • The inspector thumbnail of an SVG image that has only a viewBox no longer collapses to 0×0.
  • zoom template: the highlighted response title uses the theme's small-text accent colour, for 4.5:1 contrast.
  • Editor: the page no longer scrolls past the app, which used to push the toolbar out of view.
  • Editor: the URL printed by deckforge edit now opens from hosts that start navigations on another site, such as the GitHub Copilot app's built-in browser. The token cookie is SameSite=Lax instead of Strict.
  • npm run dev no longer fails at random with "Option '--token' argument is ambiguous": tokens never start with -, and the token is passed as --token=<t>.
