Preview build of main at a7e5ff4: Axcess 0.2.0: Windows setup wizard and portable zip, Linux AppImage, plain file names, accessibility checks

What changed

Axcess 0.2.0 is the first release for the U-M ITS accessibility team.

New and changed

  • Windows: a setup wizard. It asks who can use Axcess, shows the folder and lets you change it, and says where Axcess is installed. Every word is plain English, the wizard stays sharp at any display scale, and uninstalling keeps your reports.
  • Windows: a portable zip. Run Axcess without installing it. It keeps your reports and settings in the "Axcess data" folder next to Axcess.exe.
  • Linux: an AppImage, the whole app in one file, for 64-bit Linux from 2022 on.
  • Plain file names: Axcess-0.2.0-Mac-Apple-Silicon.dmg, Axcess-0.2.0-Windows-Installer.exe, Axcess-0.2.0-Windows-Portable.zip and Axcess-0.2.0-Linux.AppImage. Each release now holds just these, and the Get started page links to them.
  • Reports: a site's very first scan now shows while it runs.
  • The New scan button no longer turns grey on the New scan page.
  • First launch: the loading screen says the first start can take a minute or two.
  • Blocked scans: the notice suggests trying again on a different network.
  • Accessibility checks: automated WCAG 2.2 A and AA checks now cover every screen, the desktop screens, the public site and the Windows installer, and run on every change.

Versions

Versions now start at 0.2.0 and count up: 0.2.1, 0.2.2 and on. If you installed a preview numbered 0.60 to 0.63, it is not offered this version: download 0.2.0 once from the Get started page. On Windows, uninstall the old preview first in Settings, Apps; your reports stay.
