Printguard v0.2.0 — compare your own PDFs

Choose a tag to compare

@lsj0914 lsj0914 released this 06 Oct 01:18

Visitors can now compare their own PDFs. Choose a baseline and a new export, inspect every changed page, check required phrases and download a standalone HTML or JSON report. PDF contents are processed locally in the browser and are not sent to a server.

The homepage puts this working upload flow before the five synthetic examples. Browser checks cover added/deleted pages, physical dimensions and required text. Precise dynamic text/region masks remain in the CLI and Playwright API; native browser and Node rendering may differ.

Install the Node package with Node.js 22.13.0 or newer:

npm install https://github.com/lsj0914/printguard/releases/download/v0.2.0/printguard-0.2.0.tgz
npx printguard demo --out ./printguard-demo

Validation: 94 unit/process/integration tests and 38 desktop/mobile browser cases, including real file selection, no file-bearing network requests, corrupt/encrypted rejection, Chinese text, limits, cancellation, stale result removal, history return and downloaded-report independence. A production-only installation checks offline Node resources, declarations and a separate Playwright consumer. Verification record.

Browser limits: 20 MiB / 50 pages per file, 8 million pixels per page/comparison and 64 million total rendered pixels. Tested with desktop/mobile Chromium. The browser flow requires modern browser features.

Printguard v0.1.0

Choose a tag to compare

@lsj0914 lsj0914 released this 05 Oct 23:52

Printguard catches PDF export regressions with complete-document visual comparison, required-text assertions and precise dynamic-field masks. The same engine serves the CLI and Playwright, with portable reports that retain the original pages and locate failures.

Try the five-case live showcase: a four-page operations packet includes charts, 20 invoice rows, searchable English/Chinese controls and a landscape schedule. It demonstrates missing data, a passing date mask, a nearby amount error, font/spacing reflow and page deletion. All data is synthetic.

Install with Node.js 22.13.0 or newer:

npm install https://github.com/lsj0914/printguard/releases/download/v0.1.0/printguard-0.1.0.tgz
npx printguard demo --out ./printguard-demo

This release is distributed as a GitHub tarball. It has not been published to the npm registry. The core API and CLI work without Playwright; its matcher/reporter entries use a separately installed Playwright package.

Validation: 94 unit/process/integration tests, 18 desktop/mobile report cases, production-only offline package installation and a real Playwright consumer. GitHub quality checks cover Linux/macOS with Node 22 and 24. Four material findings from one independent review have RED-to-GREEN regressions; no deferred minor findings. Detailed verification record.

The attached SHA256SUMS verifies the archive. Source is MIT licensed; the embedded Noto font subset retains its OFL license.
