Roadmap

Felines was built in 14 days for Hack the Kitty 2026. This page documents where the product goes next.

Expansion Principle

Don't grow everywhere at once. Grow deep in each city before moving to the next.

Natal, RN → Northeast Brazil → Brazil → Latin America

Phase 1 — Consolidation in Natal (Post-hackathon)

Goal: Real data, real users, measurable impact in one city before any expansion.

  • Partnership with ASPAN and Instituto Hope RN to populate the map with real colonies
  • Partnership with CCZ Natal for neutering data
  • Monthly field research with local caretakers
  • Public impact dashboard with real metrics
  • PWA — installable as app, works offline in the field

Phase 2 — Priority Features

Neutering Calendar

TNR campaigns with date, time and available slots. NGOs and CCZ register. Notifications sent to nearby caretakers automatically.

Responsibility Schedule

Caretakers coordinate who feeds each day of the week inside the colony page. Solves the coordination problem without WhatsApp groups.

Foster Home Network

Users register as available to host kittens or cats in recovery. Appears contextually when someone reports a found kitten or injured cat.

TNR Impact Simulator

Interactive tool: user adjusts number of cats and neutering rate per month and sees the population curve over time. Educates and converts simultaneously.

QR Code per Colony

Each colony generates a printable QR code. Caretaker posts it at the location. Passerby scans and lands on the colony page. Physical/digital bridge.

Offline Mode

Service worker caches read articles. Important for field use with weak mobile signal.

Care Reminders

Caretakers configure push notifications: "Remind me to check the colony every Monday at 5pm." Builds habit without requiring active app opens.

Colony PDF Report

Generates a PDF with the colony's complete history. Useful for caretakers presenting to building managers or city officials.

Guardian Certificate

After completing all articles and 10 care actions, the user receives a shareable digital certificate. Closes the conversion arc the product promises.

Phase 3 — Institutional Integrations

Public Data API

Open endpoint for researchers, NGOs and city governments to query aggregated data on colonies, reports and neutering by city. Swagger documented.

Municipal CCZ Integration

City governments register TNR campaigns directly in Felines. Caretakers in the area receive automatic notifications.

Temporal Cloud

Durable notification workflows: if a colony has no check-in in 7 days, notify all followers. If a report isn't resolved in 48h, escalate to nearest caretakers.

NGO Portal

Dedicated dashboard for NGOs and shelters to manage multiple colonies, export reports and coordinate volunteers.

Phase 4 — Geographic Expansion

Phase Location Trigger
1 Natal, RN Current product
2 Fortaleza, Recife, Salvador 500+ colonies in Natal
3 São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, BH National NGO partnership

  • Collaboration over competition
  • Action before commitment
  • Education through logic, not emotion
