The first release of tizen-sim, an open-source desktop simulator for Samsung Tizen TV web apps. It replaces Samsung's TV Web Simulator: your App runs on the same Chromium milestone the target TV generation ships, and the simulator reproduces what that TV's platform does to it.

What's in it

  • Engines per TV generation. Each Version Profile runs its TVs' Chromium, downloaded on first use and verified by SHA-256: from Tizen 3.0 (Chromium M47, 2017 TVs) to Tizen 10.0 (Chromium M130, 2026 TVs).
  • Platform APIs. The tizen.* and webapis.* Shims behave as documented, including their errors and privilege checks.
  • Remote control. Remote Keys arrive the way the TV delivers them, with tvinputdevice registration and the platform's own handling (holding Back terminates the App).
  • Network rules. Your config.xml Access Policy (WARP or CSP) is enforced through a proxy, with a Network Log.
  • Lifecycle and video. Hide and resume, background support, and AVPlay on a Video Plane behind the page.
  • Diagnostics for code that behaves differently, or fails, on a real TV.
  • A fast loop. Hot reload (also through your own bundler's dev server), console streaming, DevTools, screenshots, a CLI and a desktop GUI.

Downloads

Platform GUI CLI
Windows x64 tizen-sim_0.1.0_x64-setup.exe or .msi tizen-sim-cli-0.1.0-windows-x64.zip
Linux x64 tizen-sim_0.1.0_amd64.AppImage or .deb tizen-sim-cli-0.1.0-linux-x64.tar.gz
  • Windows: the installers aren't code-signed yet. SmartScreen warns about an unknown publisher: choose More info, then Run anyway.
  • Linux: the older Engines need some system libraries; see docs/linux.md.

This is an early release: behaviour not yet confirmed on a real TV is marked unverified in the docs, and measurements from real TVs are very welcome. See CONTRIBUTING.md.
