Ember 1.10.2

Fixed

  • Ember stays in the Dock. It used to drop out of the Dock a few seconds after starting, as soon as the dictation pill was set up. It now stays there like any other app, alongside its menu bar icon.

Changed

  • You decide how much help you get. Every tip during a call has Fewer tips (Often → Sometimes → Rarely → off), Off this call, and a shortcut to its settings. Briefings before calls have Turn off briefings. Both, with how often tips come, sit together in Settings → Meetings and in setup.

Ember 1.10.1

New

  • Notarized by Apple. Ember now opens without the "unidentified developer" warning, from the download and after every update.
  • A new welcome. Setup has a line figure on every step that animates on its own and answers your pointer: a reel recorder for your calls, Ember's waveform for your voice, a card cabinet for what you keep, and more along the way. Thanks to Hairline by Lucas Marques.
  • A Copy and save step in setup for Grab text, Clipboard history and Save links, with a Try it button.

Fixed

  • Open at login works on current macOS. It uses the login items service, moves an older setting across, and says when macOS needs you to allow Ember in Login Items. When it starts at login, the window stays closed.

Meeting Notes is now Ember

A new name, a new ember orange look, and a lot more than meeting notes. Your calls, settings, permissions and sign-ins all carry over; this update installs like any other.

New

  • Saved and boards. Press ⌃⌘S in Safari, Chrome, Arc, Brave or Edge to save the page you're on, or paste a link. Posts, articles and videos become cards with their image and text (X posts keep their full text), each with a one-line summary and tags when AI is set up. Sort them into boards in the sidebar.
  • Grab text from screen. Press ⌘⇧2 and drag over anything (a paused video, a screen share, a PDF, a slide) to copy the text in it, read on your Mac. QR codes and barcodes too.
  • Clipboard history. Everything you copy, kept on your Mac. ⌃⌘V opens it over any app to search and paste; pin what you reuse. Password manager copies are never kept.
  • Offline mode. Run every AI feature on your Mac with Gemma 4 instead of OpenRouter. Free, private, works without internet.
  • In-person meetings. Record the room from your Mac; everyone is told apart by voice.
  • Action items, sent. Send them to Linear, a Notion task database or Apple Reminders, or send yours after each call. Ticking one off closes it there too. Notes can also be saved as Google Docs in a Drive folder.
  • Note templates. Sales call, 1:1, Interview and Standup notes, picked from the calendar title.
  • Dictate into a call. Say "action item, …" during a recording and it goes into the call's notes.
  • Follow-ups in your voice, written from things you've dictated before.
  • Dictionary suggestions from names your calls got wrong.

Changed

  • A new look: a floating sidebar with Recent calls and Boards, large page titles, a new Home, and Clipboard and Saved laid out as card grids.
  • Ember is now a normal Dock app (it still lives in the menu bar too), comes to the front after browser sign-ins, and ⌘Q waits for a recording's notes.
  • Notes & Notion and Connections are one settings page.
  • The command line tool is now ember (the old meeting-notes command keeps working), and connected AI apps are kept pointing at the app automatically.

Fixed

  • The Tips during calls setting now saves.

What's new

Action items you can tick off. Tick them off on Home, in each meeting, or on the new Action items page: yours or everyone's, open or done, with search. Ticking updates the meeting's note itself, so it shows up everywhere the note does.

Sign in to MCP servers. Connected sources (Settings → Knowledge base) now work with servers that use a browser sign-in, like Linear and Notion. Add the URL, sign in when your browser opens, and you're connected. Sign-ins are stored encrypted and refreshed automatically.

A tidier Home. Action items, Who you met and the speaking coach now fit together with no empty spaces, with or without your calendar.

Fixed

  • Connected sources could fail to save when two changes happened at once.

Meeting Notes 1.9.1

Fixed

1.9.0 didn't open after updating. It stopped partway through starting, with no window and no menu bar icon. This update fixes that. If 1.9.0 is stuck, quit it from Activity Monitor, then download the DMG below and drag Meeting Notes into Applications, replacing the old one. Your settings, notes and recordings are kept.

If the app ever fails to start in future, it now says why instead of staying silent.

Everything new in 1.9 is in the 1.9.0 notes.

What's new

During calls

  • Tips. Now and then, only when it would help, a short tip pops up: a question you haven't answered, an objection your playbook covers, or something you promised last time. Rarely, Sometimes or Often in Settings → Meetings, and off for a call with one click.
  • Live help. Ask during a call ("what should I ask next?") by typing or out loud, or press Right ⇧ + Right ⌘ for suggestions from what's just been said.
  • See what was shared. Slides and documents shared in a call are saved with their text. The notes get a Shared on screen section, live help knows what's on screen, and the images go to Notion too.

Knowledge

  • Knowledge base. Point it at folders of your own documents (playbooks, scripts, product notes in Markdown, PDF, Word and more). Ask, prep cards, live help and tips use them and cite the file.
  • Connected sources. Add MCP servers you already use (docs, wiki, CRM) as knowledge. They get your question only, never the call transcript.

After calls

  • Speaking coach. Every call shows your share of the talking, pace, filler words, questions asked, talking over others, your longest stretch and a tip. Home shows the week.

Dictation

  • Snippets. Say "my calendar link" and get the full text, exactly as saved.
  • Whisper mode. Dictate under your breath in a quiet room.
  • History. Everything you dictate or rewrite by voice, searchable on the new Dictation page.

Works with your AI apps

  • MCP server and meeting-notes command. Claude Desktop, Claude Code and Cursor can search your calls, action items and knowledge base, and so can Terminal. Set up in Settings → AI apps. Read only.

Setup

  • A new onboarding: try dictation and Edit by voice, practise with the speaking coach, set all four shortcuts, connect your calendar and knowledge base. If you set up before, a New in 1.9 tile on Home shows what's new.

A new app icon. A charcoal tile with the gold waveform, matching the menu bar icon and the app's gold. It shows in the Dock, Finder, Spotlight and notifications.

What's new

Back-to-back calls. When a call ends, Meeting Notes is ready for the next one within seconds. Speaker names, AI notes and saving to your folder and Notion finish in the background, so you can start (or auto-record) another call straight away. The status bar shows "Writing notes for…" until they're done, and quitting waits for them.

What's new

Home in the sidebar. Home always takes you back to the dashboard. While a call is recording, a Recording item (with the red dot) shows it live; after the call it becomes Last call. During a call, Home shows "Recording your call" with a button to jump back to it.

Menu bar. Open Meeting Notes now opens Home; Show Live Notes opens the call.

Fix. The Stop button is recording red again.

What's new

Prep for repeating calls. For a weekly or recurring call, the prep card now recaps the last two calls in the series: what was discussed and decided on each, and what's still open.

Open Zoom & join. The prep card has a button beside the call name that opens Zoom straight into the meeting (or Google Meet / Teams for their links). The Join buttons on the Now page's calendar do the same.
