@lucianodiisouza lucianodiisouza released this 23 Oct 19:51

The first Flecha release: an Arc-style browser for developers, built on Chromium 158.

Install

  1. Download the dmg for your Mac below: Flecha-0.1.0.dmg for Apple silicon Macs (M1 and later), or Flecha-0.1.0-x64.dmg for Intel Macs. Both need macOS 13 or newer.
  2. Open it and drag Flecha into Applications. The app is signed with a Developer ID and notarized by Apple, so it opens without Gatekeeper warnings.
  3. Optional: to import from other browsers and Arc, and to use the coding-agents (MCP) server, register the native host from a clone of this repo:
    chromium/scripts/install-native-host.sh --app /Applications/Flecha.app

On first launch macOS asks once to let Flecha use its "Flecha Safe Storage" item in your Keychain. That's where Chromium keeps saved passwords and cookies encrypted.

What's in it

  • A vertical sidebar with favourites, pinned tabs and folders, and Today tabs that archive themselves.
  • Spaces with their own colour and emoji. Each Space can have its own cookies and logins.
  • A command bar (⌘T / ⌘L) with developer shortcuts: gh, npm, mdn, caniuse, and JWT and timestamp decoding.
  • Peek, split view, and Flechinha: a small window for a quick page.
  • Boosts: per-site TypeScript and CSS.
  • Developer tools: the console error badge, responsive view, local dev servers in the sidebar, environments (local, staging, prod), and DevTools.
  • A built-in ad and tracker blocker.
  • Incognito windows with the Flecha frame.
  • Light and dark themes. Chrome Web Store extensions work, and Google sign-in works because this is real Chromium.

See the README for the full list.

Known limitations

  • Check for Updates… reports an error until the update feed goes live on flecha.dev. Later releases will update themselves through Sparkle.
  • Not there yet: choosing the downloads folder in Settings, and the welcome tour from Settings.
  • No H.264/AAC playback. Chromium's open-source build ships without those proprietary codecs.
