PowerCut 1.0.27
- The sections in the right column and the clips in the Footage column are now separate cards, each with an outline and a gap before the next one, so they no longer run together. The selected clip has a teal outline; a clip whose file is missing has a red one.
- Transcription accuracy: in a narrow right column the three choices now show as a menu. Before, they did not fit and pushed the column's contents past the edge of the window.
PowerCut 1.0.26
- Recordings with the voice on one side of a stereo file now transcribe. Some recorders put the voice on the right channel only and leave the left one silent; PowerCut listened to the silent side and found a word or two. It now hears the side that carries the voice, for the transcript, the filler pass and speaker detection. Files with sound on both sides are handled exactly as before. For a clip transcribed before this update, choose Right only in the clip's Audio menu and it is transcribed again.

A new look, calmer and easier to read: flat surfaces divided by hairlines, larger transcript text, teal only for what is selected or playing, and the long explanations moved behind (i) buttons. Every button has an outline so it reads as a button, and nothing is pill-shaped.

The toolbar carries the project: its name is an editable field (click to rename) with the project menu right beside it, then History, Review with the number of close calls, and Export. Export opens one sheet with the NLE, the options, and the transcript and caption exports.

The right column has three tabs under the player: Edit (the rules the Auto Edit Pass follows), Review (the close calls, with Play and Show on each) and Assistant (what your AI app read and changed).

Home starts with a New Project tile, shows your projects as a list or a grid, and has the tour, the user guide and the keyboard shortcuts one click away. New Project is three clearly numbered steps.

Clip cards show a frame of each clip. Hide the previews with the photo button in the Footage header or View, Hide Clip Previews; each card then shows its length next to its name.

Takes: a short line said again word for word ("I'm sorry, but it does.") is now a retake, kept once, even when it has only a couple of content words; a leading "And", "But" or "So" does not make it a different line. For a project edited before this update, click Run Auto Edit Pass once to apply it.

New cleanup level, Jump Cut, after Aggressive: every pause past the slider goes, mid-sentence too, down to 0.1 s, for talking heads cut tight. Short words between two cuts, like "a" or "I", are kept. The other four levels cut exactly as before.

Create Multicam accepts the same files again after you remove a multicam clip; before, it said they were already in the project.

No more stray short clips between takes. When a script correction joined two words ("AI generated" into "AI-generated"), striking that word left the audio of its second half playing, often as an empty row of its own. The joined part now goes with its word.

Faster and lighter: opening a project from the Finder or the Dock no longer stacks hidden copies of the window, and script projects, the timeline with Switch camera by speaker, Looks Right (Y), assistant tools on long clips, frame stepping and hovering no longer redraw more than they need to. Temporary audio no longer piles up: PowerCut deletes it when you quit.

French hesitations like "euh" and "hum" are now found and cut, like "um" in English. An "uh" the transcript spells "ah" is cut as a filler when PowerCut also heard a hesitation there, while a real "Ah, I see" stays. For a project transcribed before this build, click Listen Again for Fillers in the Cleanup section.

Transcription keeps working after you have used many languages: macOS lets an app hold five speech languages at a time, and PowerCut now frees the one used least recently instead of failing.

MXF import can no longer hang on a long file, and partial files left by an interrupted import are cleaned up.

Create Multicam: drop all your files at once, on the sheet or on a row, and each becomes an angle named after its file. The first camera file becomes the main clip when none is chosen yet; recorder files never do. Choose… accepts several files too.

Create Multicam: put the angles in order. Drag the grip at the left of a row (the row lifts and the others slide aside), or use the up and down chevrons. The order is the angle order in Final Cut Pro and the track order in Resolve and Premiere.

Settings, Updates: Try the Beta now opens the new beta page, with the current beta, how to send feedback, and what to expect. PowerCut Beta installs beside PowerCut, opens the same projects, and never writes a release project: it works on a copy named "X Beta".

PowerCut 1.0.23

Home is here for real: a house at the right of the title bar (⌘⇧H) shows every project as a list or a grid with a frame of its footage, with New Project and Open Project above. Back or Escape returns you to where you were. The new-project page keeps a Previous Projects section and a Back link. (1.0.22 announced this but shipped without it; sorry.)

18 months of updates: a paid PowerCut license now includes every update released within 18 months of purchase, up from 12. Existing licenses get the longer window automatically. A renewal still adds a year, and Lifetime stays Lifetime.

Beta builds: PowerCut Beta is a separate download that installs next to the release app and opens the same projects. Settings, Updates now has a Try the Beta button that takes you there.

Create Multicam: drop all your files at once, on the sheet or on a row, and each becomes an angle. The first camera file becomes the main clip when none is chosen yet; recorder files never do. Choose… accepts several files too.

PowerCut Beta never writes a release project. Opening X.powercuts makes "X Beta.powercuts" next to it and works on the copy; the original is untouched. Open the Beta copy in PowerCut to carry a cut over. A notice explains it the first time.

Home, 18 months of updates and Try the Beta from 1.0.23 are in this beta too.
