Release Notes: fractions-cpp v1.1

This release focuses on enhancing the test suite, modernizing the build system, and preparing the project for wider use with improved documentation. The minimum required C++ standard for building tests has been upgraded to C++17.

Release Date: September 22, 2025

What's New & Improved

  1. Expanded Unit Test Suite:

    • Added a comprehensive new test file (test_frac_extended.cpp) with 63 lines of new tests.
    • New tests cover mixed-type arithmetic operations (e.g., int + long, int + short).
    • Added tests for stream insertion/output functionality (operator<<).
    • Included tests for handling large numbers and normalization.
  2. Build System Modernization:

    • The project version has been officially updated from 1.0.2 to 1.1 in the main CMakeLists.txt.
    • The test suite now requires C++17 (upgraded from C++11) to leverage modern language features.
    • All CI workflows (GitHub Actions for Ubuntu, macOS) have been updated with a more robust CMake configuration flag: -DCMAKE_POLICY_VERSION_MINIMUM=3.5 -Wno-dev.
  3. New Project Documentation (GEMINI.md):

    • Added a detailed 55-line overview document.
    • Provides clear instructions for building the library, running tests, and executing the standalone example.
    • Documents the use of code formatting tools (clang-format, cmake-format) and the project's development conventions (Modern CMake, doctest, CI/CD).
