Arson 1.2.0 — Not notarized
Arson 1.2.0
Not notarized by Apple. Arson is ad-hoc signed, without an Apple Developer ID certificate. macOS may block the first launch and require your explicit approval. The DMG and update feed are authenticated separately with Arson's existing Sparkle EdDSA key; this does not replace Apple notarization.
What's new
- Choose App Window as a menu bar icon alongside Flame and Windows.
- A refreshed app icon and updated documentation screenshots.
- A clearer DMG installer with large icons and an arrow to Applications.
- Direct access to the installer without a license acceptance dialog; the license remains included inside the app bundle.
- Warnings for presets without an effect now appear in the General section of the editor.
Installation
Requires macOS 26 or later. Universal app for Apple Silicon and Intel.

If macOS blocks it, and you trust this download, open System Settings → Privacy & Security → Open Anyway after the first launch attempt. Follow Apple's instructions; do not disable Gatekeeper globally.
- Complete the introduction and grant the requested window-control permission.
Updating
Updater-enabled versions can check this release with Arson → Check for Updates…. The original v1.0.0 preview has no updater and must be replaced manually.
macOS may require you to remove and re-add Arson under its window-control permission settings after replacing an ad-hoc-signed build. If an update or launch fails, use the manual installation steps above.
Integrity
SHA256SUMS.txt lists checksums for the DMG and appcast.xml. Sparkle verifies both update files using the public key embedded in Arson. This release does not carry an Apple notarization ticket.
Arson 1.1.0 — Unsigned Updater Preview
Arson 1.1.0 — Unsigned Updater Preview
This preview is ad-hoc signed and not notarized because no Apple Developer ID certificate is currently available. macOS may require explicit approval before the first manual launch. The Sparkle update archive and appcast are signed separately with Arson's EdDSA update key.
This GitHub release is intentionally marked as a pre-release and should only be used for trusted testing.
What's New
- Added signed in-app update checks powered by Sparkle 2.9.6.
- Added Check for Updates… to the app and menu bar menus.
- Made the flame the default menu bar symbol for new installations.
- Suspended Arson shortcuts silently while the focused app is in full screen.
- Improved the public README, project documentation, issue forms, security reporting, and release tooling.
Installing
Open Arson-1.1.0.dmg, drag Arson to Applications, and grant access under System Settings → Privacy & Security → Device Control & Data Access.
The published v1.0.0 preview did not contain the updater and must be replaced manually. A locally installed updater-enabled 1.0.0 bridge build can use Check for Updates… to test this release directly.
Arson 1.0.0 — Unsigned Preview
