WebInspectorKit v0.8.0
Breaking Changes
- Apps using the built-in UIKit inspector must prepare its shared runtimes before constructing inspector views. See Migration Notes below.
- UIKit declarations now belong to the
WebInspectorKitmodule. Replace directimport WebInspectorUIstatements andWebInspectorUI.-qualified names withWebInspectorKit. Rebuild all clients because Swift symbol identities have changed. WebInspectorTestBackend.emit(_:target:)now requires aWebInspectorTargethandle. Replacetarget: target.idwithtarget: target.
Bug Fixes
- Restored DOM action buttons in the Element tab in compact layouts.
- Malformed protocol envelopes and permanent native attachment invalidation now close the connection, fail pending commands, and finish event streams.
waitUntilClosed()reports the disconnected error. - Native attachment errors now preserve symbol lookup failure categories instead of reporting every lookup failure as a missing symbol.
Migration Notes
Await runtime preparation during asynchronous app setup and handle failures before creating inspector views:
import WebInspectorKit
try await WebInspectorSession.prepare()DataKit, ProxyKit, and WebKitRuntime consumers that do not use the built-in UIKit UI do not need this preparation step.
See the migration guide for module imports and test-event routing changes.
