SunMosaic 0.1.0

SunMosaic joins 2 to 5 overlapping partial H-alpha frames of the Sun into one full-disk 16-bit mosaic. This release is the standalone Mac app: it carries its own Python and every dependency, so nothing else needs installing.

SunMosaic-0.1.0-arm64.dmg below. For Apple Silicon Macs (M1 or later) only.

Install

1. Double-click the .dmg file. It opens in Finder showing SunMosaic and a shortcut to your Applications folder.
2. Drag SunMosaic onto the Applications shortcut.
3. Eject the disk image. The .dmg file can then be deleted.

First launch

The app is not notarized by Apple, so macOS blocks it the first time:

1. Open SunMosaic from Applications. macOS says it cannot verify the app; click Done.
2. Open System Settings, then Privacy & Security, scroll down and click Open Anyway next to the SunMosaic message.
3. Confirm, and SunMosaic opens. Later launches work normally.

What's inside

• Joins the frames automatically: limb fitting, overlap registration, brightness matching and seamless blending.
• Optional finishing: flip, rotation about the solar centre with a square canvas, and a prominence boost with limb-glow removal.
• Saves a 16-bit linear TIFF, plus a layered TIFF for the prominences that Affinity Photo opens as layers.
