Versions and Upgrading
askwright is released as a zip on GitHub, with the plugin manifest in the repository; there is no package registry. Dates are from the releases page, read on 2026-10-25.
| Version | Released | Zip | What changed for callers |
|---|---|---|---|
| 0.2.0 | 2026-10-25 | askwright-0.2.0.zip, 61,076 bytes | Study mode ("mode": "study", ask.py grade, read --attempt), figures ("figure" media, ask.py figure), add takes a questions.json-shaped file. Decision sets behave as before. |
| 0.1.1 | 2026-10-24 | askwright-0.1.1.zip, 45,676 bytes | The README links this wiki. ask.py --version prints 0.1.1 and the server identifies itself as askwright/0.1.1. Nothing else. |
| 0.1.0 | 2026-10-24 | askwright-0.1.0.zip, 45,589 bytes | The first version: question sets as data, the lint, the local page and the read-back. |
Nothing to change for decision sets. The wiki's 0.1.1 cases were run again against the 0.2.0 zip and printed the same output, apart from the version line. The set format stays "askwright": 1; the new fields are optional.
What is new:
-
"mode": "study"on a set makes it a quiz, withcorrectandwhyon options,topic,points,bonus,shuffle, andrubricormodel_answeron written questions. The server writesresults.jsonwith every attempt. See Study mode. - Two commands,
gradeandfigure, andread --attempt N(Commands). - Two routes,
POST /api/submitandPOST /api/retake, used by study sets only (Server and security). - A media item may be
{"figure": {...}}instead of a file (Figures). -
ask.py addalso takes a file shaped likequestions.json,{"questions": [...]}. In 0.1.1 the same file failed with "lint failed; nothing was added" and seven errors about a question with no id (run against the 0.1.1 zip). In 0.2.0:
$ python ask.py add ask/first round3.json
{
"ok": true,
"added": [
"poster"
],
"warnings": []
}
$ echo $?
0- New lint rules for study sets, and a warning (
study-fields) whencorrect,rubricormodel_answerappear in a decision set (Lint rules and errors). - Three sentences in the README and schema.md that this wiki found wrong in 0.1.1 were corrected:
--versionand usage errors do not print JSON, the Origin is checked on POST only, andread --allgives unanswered questions the stateunanswered.
Nothing to change. Between the two tags only the version strings and the README moved in the zip; questions.json, answers.json and every command are the same. The set format stays "askwright": 1; a future format would raise that number, and lint refuses any other value today (version: the set must start with "askwright": 1).
Every change to the skill is in the CHANGELOG as a C- entry with the finding, lesson or test run behind it, and a line in its "Release notes". The lessons from real use are in LEARNINGS.md.
