madnesswright is a set of three agent skills for MADNESS: Project Nexus, the 2021 Steam game from GIBBING TREE, LLC (app 488860). They let an AI coding agent (Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, GitHub Copilot) mod the game and build levels for it the way the developer documents. A standard-library Python helper, mpn.py, checks the work before it reaches the game. It finds the install and branch, backs up saves, lints mod folders and SceneTools scenes, deploys mods and reads the game's mod log.

It is not a mod manager, and it does not replace the developer's tools. There is no level editor inside the game: levels come from the official SceneTools Unity project and new art from ModTools. The skills install no software and never handle Steam credentials. madnesswright is not affiliated with Gibbing Tree or Krinkels.

The skills

Skill Use it for Page
madnesswright Start here. The releasebeta branch and a save backup, info.txt and MadCards, deploying and enabling a mod, reading the mod log, sharing on the Workshop. Ships mpn.py. Mods and MadCards
madnesswright-scenes Levels: Playground scenes, rooms, waypoints, doors, spawners, the Event System, stages, campaigns and arena maps in SceneTools, linted with mpn.py scene-lint. Levels with SceneTools
madnesswright-modtools New weapons, armor and characters as MadObjects in ModTools, and Harmony assemblies that the game loads itself. Assets and Harmony

Each skill names its siblings in its description, so a level request reaches madnesswright-scenes and a code request reaches madnesswright-modtools. The routing was tested on 2026-10-17: 36 of 36 trigger and decoy runs went to the right skill (each skill's TESTS.md, run T-20261017-4).

Where to start

  • Every mpn.py command with real output: The helper.
  • A mod that does not show up or does nothing: Troubleshooting.

About these pages

These pages describe madnesswright 0.1.2, released on 2026-10-18 at 02:14 UTC. Every command output on them was printed by the mpn.py inside the 0.1.1 zip, whose code 0.1.2 keeps unchanged (one docstring line differs; see Versions), run on Windows 11 with Python 3.14.6 (see Development). The game folders those commands read were built for the run. There was a Steam folder holding only an app manifest, a stand-in data folder with logs in the shapes the repository's tests use, and the test fixtures from the v0.1.1 tag. Nothing on these pages ran against a real installed game.

The skills' facts about the game itself were checked by the maintainer against an installed copy on 2026-10-17 (Steam build 25615280, release v1.11.a). That covers where the mod log is, how the loader reads cards and which framework a Harmony mod targets. Those findings are dated and sourced in the skills' RESEARCH.md files, entries R-20261017-9 (madnesswright) and R-20261017-6 (madnesswright-modtools). The game patches often, and each skill re-checks its research on a schedule.
