Highlights

  • Reworked the desktop and MSFS toolbar dashboards with live GPU-Z GPU Load and VRAM-percentage readings while retaining simulator memory and CPU/MainThread telemetry.
  • Added sortable session history, multi-record JSON export, confirmed deletion, simulator-version detection fixes, and updated comparisons without the retired 1% Low metric.
  • Added profile-owned Minimize After Launch handling for companion applications.
  • Improved Pimax identification using passive manifest and device-log inspection, and simplified the visible runtime panel so diagnostics never load or disturb the active OpenXR runtime.
  • Corrected DLSS version formatting to four dotted components, such as DLSS v310.9.1.0; the version is shown only when MSFS has actually loaded the library.
  • Expanded automated validation to 62 passing tests.

Installation

Download VR-Auto-Optimizer-2.4.2-Setup.exe and its matching .sha256 file. This freeware installer is intentionally unsigned, so Windows may display an Unknown Publisher or SmartScreen warning. Verify the SHA-256 before installation.

VR Auto-Optimizer 2.2.1

This maintenance release adds clearer, read-only visibility into MSFS display and NVIDIA DLSS settings, improves update discovery and performance-monitoring diagnostics, and makes post-flight Xbox cleanup safer for the next simulator launch.

What’s new

  • Added a manual Check Update control. It compares the installed version with the latest public GitHub release and only opens GitHub after user approval.
  • Added a read-only MSFS Display & NVIDIA DLSS Settings window showing saved desktop and VR rendering modes, NVIDIA App DLSS override model presets, and the loaded DLSS library version.
  • Improved MSFS FPS-source detection by checking loaded SimConnect libraries before switching to the safe PresentMon fallback.
  • Clarified dashboard status messages when CPU, MainThread, and memory monitoring remain active but FPS is unavailable.
  • Changed post-flight Xbox cleanup to close only Xbox and Game Bar interface processes. Gaming Services, authentication, game-save, and networking services are left available for the next MSFS launch.
  • Expanded automated tests for the update checker, display-settings parser, DLSS preset mapping, performance-monitor status, and Xbox cleanup safety.

Installation

  1. Download VR-Auto-Optimizer-2.2.1-win-x64.zip.
  2. Extract the entire ZIP to a writable folder.
  3. Run SimVROptimizer.exe normally for Standard mode, or use Run as administrator for Aggressive mode and reliable restoration.
  4. Save work in any selected applications before starting a flight session.

VR Auto-Optimizer 2.2.0

Version 2.2 adds privacy-safe software identification and opt-in online guidance for running applications and services.

Highlights

  • Optional online catalogue guidance for both applications and services.
  • Local identity checks use executable metadata, publisher, product, version, Authenticode trust, and SHA-256.
  • New Verified, Identified, Likely, and Unidentified confidence levels with complete hover details.
  • Confidence-based matching uses exact hashes, trusted publisher/product combinations, product/name combinations, and executable or service names.
  • The catalogue is downloaded in full; process names, service names, paths, hashes, and PC details are never uploaded.
  • Local protection rules always take priority, and unmatched items remain Keep Running.

Interface and guidance

  • Added an Identity column to the Applications and Services tabs.
  • Replaced ambiguous Optional and Unknown display labels with Keep Running.
  • Changed unknown impact text to No Known.
  • Grouped selected applications and services at the top of their grids.

@macbrowndog macbrowndog released this 03 Sep 06:56

VR Auto-Optimizer 2.1.0

Version 2.1 improves application recovery choices, profile editing, launch confirmation, and post-flight cleanup.

Highlights

  • Choose Restart or Left Closed separately for each selected application after a flight.
  • OneDrive remains a protected special case and is restored automatically.
  • Desktop and packaged Windows applications, including Phone Link and Cross Device Experience, now use the appropriate restart method.
  • Services clearly show Restore because stopped services are always restored for system safety.
  • Named profiles now show Saved, Modified, or New, with explicit Save Changes and Revert controls.
  • Launch checks and the automatic-action summary are combined into one confirmation window.
  • Closing a successful post-flight report now exits VR Auto-Optimizer after cleanup. Incomplete recovery reports keep the optimizer open so recovery can be completed.

Fixes

  • Fixed After Flight dropdown text being clipped or displayed incorrectly.
  • Fixed the application action conversion error when changing Restart/Left Closed.
  • Fixed selected After Flight actions not persisting through profiles, rescans, and administrator handoff.
  • Fixed cleanly self-stopping updater services, including Microsoft Edge and Google/Mozilla updaters, being reported as failed and leaving the recovery journal active.
  • Improved restart verification and transaction-journal detail.

Verification

  • 45/45 automated application tests passed.
  • Windows x64 self-contained release build completed with no warnings or errors.
