PlayCover 4.0.0-prerelease (maclub build)

This is the maclub fork prerelease of PlayCover 4.0.0. It is built from commit 10a073b on top of upstream develop, with two additions that are maclub-internal and will not be submitted upstream:

  1. Headless CLI mode (also submitted to upstream as #2238 — but here it ships as the default binary). The same PlayCover.app binary now also exposes 21 CLI subcommands for installing, uninstalling, launching, signing, exporting, and managing keymaps, IPA sources, per-app settings, user dylibs, and global config — all headlessly (.accessory activation policy, no GUI dialogs, machine-readable --json output, well-defined exit codes).   2. maclub signing config (DEVELOPMENT_TEAM / CODE_SIGN_IDENTITY / CODE_SIGN_STYLE / PROVISIONING_PROFILE_SPECIFIER) and the 4.0.0-prerelease marketing version.

Install

Download PlayCover_4.0.0-prerelease.dmg below, mount it, and drag PlayCover.app to your Applications folder. On first launch you may need to right-click → Open to bypass Gatekeeper.

Verify the CLI

/Applications/PlayCover.app/Contents/MacOS/PlayCover --help

It should print a list of subcommands. If it opens the GUI instead, your build predates the CLI feature.

Compatibility

  • macOS 12+ (Monterey, Ventura, Sonoma, Sequoia, Tahoe)
  • Apple Silicon (M1/M2/M3/M4)

Known limitations

  • This is a prerelease. Expect rough edges. Please report bugs via GitHub Issues.
  • The CLI is not yet part of any upstream PlayCover release; it lives on feat/cli-mode and is being reviewed in upstream PR #2238.

What's changed since upstream 4.0.0-prerelease

See commit 10a073b and its parents. Highlights:

  • feat/cli-mode: full headless CLI (21 subcommands, --json, exit codes, .accessory policy, zero GUI popups)
  • chore: switch to maclub signing and bump version to 4.0.0 (1634): maclub signing + build 1634
  • chore: mark marketing version as 4.0.0-prerelease, pin macOS deployment target to 12
