10.21.0 - 2026-10-12

Ghostex 10.21.0 is out. A Catch me up button tells you where a session stands, a message an agent queued comes back to your chat box with ↑, renaming a session shows the new name at once, messages between agents name the other session, and on Windows a restart or update takes over in seconds instead of showing the startup dialog.

💬 Chat

• Catch me up: a button at the top right of the chat box has a small model read the session's recent conversation and shows a coloured handover (what needs you, what's done, what's in progress) in a card above the chat box, with Refresh, Copy and Close. Off by default: turn it on in Settings > Chat > Catch me up button.
• Back to composer: a message Claude Code is still holding in its queue gets Back to composer in its actions, and ↑ in an empty chat box takes back the newest one, like ↑ in Claude's own input. Its text and pictures are added to your draft unsent, and any other queued messages stay queued.
• Messages between agents name the other session: a row reads Message from "" or Message to "" and opens to the whole message; one command that sends the same message to several sessions is one "Message to 2 sessions" row listing each recipient, and a session that can't be found reads "another agent" instead of a raw code.
• Answered question forms fold to one line with their title and Answered (click to open the form again), and your answers below read as plain text, each question with your answer under it; the agent's own question receipts look the same.
• Needs you is orange in marked handovers, so it no longer looks like In progress.
• Section labels wrap and their links work: a long marked label (for example a pull request title with its link) wraps like a paragraph and its link is clickable.
• A ! command's copy button floats outside the bubble on its left, like other messages, and the bubble no longer says Running.
• The Worked row shows only its tool-call and file counts; a failed call still shows on its own row.
• The text caret is 1 pixel wide in the chat box and every text field.

📋 Sidebar

• Renaming a session shows the new name at once, and the agent's confirmation reaches every computer and the phone within about a quarter second instead of 3–4 seconds. If the agent never takes the name, the old one comes back with a shake and Rename reopens with the name you tried.

🧭 Orchestrators

• A message to a sleeping thread wakes it and keeps retrying until it's delivered, and reopening a thread wakes it too; a message that waited more than a day is marked Not sent instead of waking an old session.
• Handovers list each thread once, under Kicked off or In progress, and question numbers keep counting across the whole conversation.

📱 On the phone

• Hold a message to see its actions: copy, edit, Back to composer, rewind and the rest open on a long press, in the main chat and the subagent viewer, and nothing shows under a message until you do.

🪟 Windows

• Restarts and updates take over in seconds: a leftover gxserver of an older build is replaced right away, and startup checks only the sessions that need it, so Ghostex no longer waits minutes or shows the startup diagnostics dialog.
• Hovering a message while typing no longer blinks its buttons and time.

🩹 Fixes and polish

• Sending feedback says why GitHub refused it instead of a generic "try again", and a refused send can be sent again right away.

Windows beta packages are not Authenticode-signed and may show a SmartScreen warning.
