MyFlac v0.1.1

Changes in this release

  • Instant Startup and State Restoration: MyFlac now remembers your active session state (selected artist, selected album, active track, and playback position). When launching, the interface opens instantaneously and is fully populated from frame zero without initial blank delays.
  • System Tray Quick Actions: Direct actions in the system tray menu to open the fullscreen Super Player or compact Mini Player (500x500 px) directly, alongside Show MyFlac.
  • Close Window Behavior: Added a new setting under Preferences > General > Behavior allowing users to choose whether closing the main window quits the application completely (freeing DAC/PipeWire hardware) or keeps playback running in the background in the system tray.
  • Performance Improvements: Optimized track list appending using Gio.ListStore.splice(), lazy ARGB icon pixmap generation, and instant default device initialization.
  • AppStream Metadata: Updated AppStream catalog data for GNOME Software and KDE Discover.

MyFlac v0.1.0 — Initial Release

Welcome to the first public release of MyFlac, an audiophile, bit-perfect music player built for GNOME and the Linux desktop.

Highlights

  • Bit-Perfect Hardware Output: Direct access to your DAC via exclusive ALSA (hw:CARD=...,DEV=...) with D-Bus device reservation (org.freedesktop.ReserveDevice1) against PipeWire/PulseAudio. Zero forced resampling, zero dither, fixed at 0 dB digital.
  • Synchronized Lyrics (LRC): Real-time scrolling lyrics via LRCLIB with past line dimming, lead-time anticipation, and interactive seek (click any lyric line to jump).
  • Ambient Backdrop & Artist Wallpaper: The library background smoothly renders blurred and tinted artist photography, creating a modern, warm listening atmosphere without sacrificing readability.
  • Wikipedia & Discogs Encyclopedia: Rich metadata cards for the current song, album, and artist (release year, label, country, formats, musicians, producers, liner notes), auto-translated to Spanish or Catalan.
  • Ultra HD Cover Art & Zoom: Fetches matching high-resolution album art (up to 2000 px) using strict pixel-correlation checks. Press Ctrl+P for full-screen cover art.
  • Three Viewing Experiences:
    • Main Window: Dual-column browser with instant search and metadata inspector.
    • Mini-Player (500x500 px): Floating desktop square with clean artwork or oscilloscope, and auto-hiding HUD controls.
    • Fullscreen Super-Player: Immersive full-screen playback with artist wallpaper, translucent lyrics card, and phosphor oscilloscope.
  • System Tray Integration: StatusNotifierItem / AppIndicator with popup mini-player (left-click), full D-Bus menu (right-click), and mouse-wheel volume control.
