OscarWatch 1.1.3 Release Notes
What's New
New Feature: SSTV Receive Suite
You can now decode Slow Scan TV directly inside OscarWatch (Tools > OscarWatch SSTV) without needing external software.
- Broad Mode Support: Full support for popular SSTV modes including Robot 36/72, Scottie S1/S2/DX, Martin M1/M2, Wraase SC2-180, and PD 50 through 290.
- Automatic Tuning & Sync:
- Auto-tracks Doppler on SSB passes and includes auto-slant correction so pictures arrive straight without manual tweaking.
- Option to auto-start and stop decoding based on satellite elevation.
- Built-in Picture Library: View live waterfall/spectrum displays during receive, and access all your saved images organised by day, satellite, and mode.
- OscarWatch.org Gallery: Operators with an API token can opt in to automatically upload clean image decodes to the community gallery when a satellite sets.
Improved FT4 Decoding & Usability
- Remembers Non-Standard Calls: FT4 now saves up to 150 slash or non-standard callsigns (like
/Por/R) between sessions and pre-loads up to 50 recent calls from your logbook. This means stations you have heard before are named right away instead of showing as<...>. - Clearer Feedback: Clicking on a
<...>line while the call sign is still being decoded now displays a helpful status message instead of attempting to transmit. - Grid Square Fix: Fixed an issue where 4-character grid squares were occasionally misparsed as compound callsigns.
Radio & CAT Control Enhancements
- ICOM Data Modes:
- Radio profiles for the IC-705, IC-7300, IC-905, IC-7100, IC-9700, and IC-9100 now automatically switch your transceiver into data mode (
USB-D,LSB-D,FM-D) when selecting data modes, and return to voice modes when you switch back.
- Radio profiles for the IC-705, IC-7300, IC-905, IC-7100, IC-9700, and IC-9100 now automatically switch your transceiver into data mode (
- IC-9700 & IC-910 Power Scaling:
- Added explicit power class settings (Export, Japan, JapanS) for the IC-9700 so FT4 power limits and scaling accurately match your radio's maximum output.
- IC-910 FT4 power levels now correctly scale based on high/low power ratings per band.
- Yaesu FT-991 Safe Tuning:
- Added guard checks to prevent illegal out-of-range frequency commands from hitting the radio over CAT.
- PTT Stability:
- Fixed an issue on radios like the IC-9700 where Doppler frequency updates on slot boundaries would cause PTT to momentarily drop mid-FT4 transmission.
Satellite Database & Fixes
- Database Updates:
- Added definitions and downlink modes for UNNE-1B, BY70-4, and JAMX01 (including corrected NORAD ID).
- Added missing 67 Hz CTCSS access tone for QMR-KWT-2.
- Cleaned up obsolete entries for re-entered satellites (SO-124 and SO-125).
- Map & Audio Fixes:
- Corrected day/night terminator line shading on the tracking map during autumn and winter months.
- Resolved a crash that occurred if FT4 was opened while the configured USB soundcard was unplugged or offline.
