Velocity 0.1.16 + Julia 0.3.0 — notarized (Preview)
Notarized. Both apps now open normally on any Mac. There's no right-click → Open step and no "damaged" warning.
Julia 0.3.0
- Finish things. "Pick what to finish this week" proposes one finish line. Closing it needs a receipt that is actually checked: a dead link or an unmerged PR is refused. Autopilot is off by default. When you turn it on, Julia sends the next safe step to the agent, but never an approval and never a deploy, push or payment.
- Life mode. Work, Personal, Rest, or Focus on one project. Weekends default to Rest, which keeps work projects quiet. The bar says what it's hiding ("Rest · 14 quiet") and offers Back to work. You can mark any project as Personal.
- Not now and snooze are stored on the server, so they're the same on every device.
- Finishing a project asks for proof. "Finished without proof" stays available as an honest escape.
- This week: where your time went, what finished and what stalled, how often you stepped in for each finish, and your best hours.
- Smaller changes: today's AI spend is shown in the menu, errors appear on the card they belong to, and the server address is a setting.
Velocity 0.1.16
- "Yes" answers only the exact question you saw. If the question on screen changed, Velocity refuses and presses nothing, and it never presses twice.
- Codex windows show working, idle, or needs-you. A dialog Codex shows in several windows counts as one ask, and asks reach Julia in about 3 seconds.
- No dropped windows. The old caps (40 windows per group, 12 groups) are gone.
- Bringing a project forward stacks all of its windows at once and raises the right ones.
- The backend address is a setting (Julia Backend…).
Install
- Unzip each app and drag it to
/Applications. For the full experience, run both on the same Mac. - Grant permissions when asked: Accessibility (both apps), plus Microphone and Automation for Julia.
- In Velocity's menu, choose Connect to Julia.
Notes:
- Apple silicon only, macOS 14 or later.
- Julia uses the shared dev backend.
- Existing Velocity installs update through Check for Updates.
- Tests: 189 Swift tests pass and 121 backend checks pass. All builds are Developer ID signed, notarized, and stapled.
- This is the last release with two separate apps. Next, Velocity merges into Julia.
Velocity 0.1.15 + Julia 0.2.0 (Preview)
Velocity 0.1.15 ships together with Julia 0.2.0, the floating menu-bar companion.
Velocity 0.1.15
- Double-clicking a project is much faster. All of its windows now come forward at once. Previously each window waited up to a second for its app to come to the front.
- Clicking Done on a waiting item works. That includes Julia's own errands, such as a stuck web order, and any duplicate copies of the item close too.
- Julia gets a time history. Velocity reports which window is frontmost about once a minute, with counts of keystrokes, clicks and microphone seconds (counts only, never which keys), and an idle signal after 5 minutes. Julia uses this for "where does my time go".
- Dictation reaches the right terminal, and open Notion tabs are searchable and jumpable.
Julia 0.2.0 (new download)
- Your move: everything waiting on you, in the floating bar, the menu, and the Prefrontal window.
- On every row, Not now hides it until the next work morning (Monday on a weekend), set aside pauses the whole project, and Archive retires it. Duplicate rows are merged.
- Rebuilt project card: shows one honest status, what changed since you last looked, and one clearly labeled action. It no longer covers what you're hovering.
- The alert card: Yes, Go, sleep, Done, and double-click to open.
Install
- Unzip each app and drag it to
/Applications. For the full experience, run both on the same Mac. - First launch: right-click the app and choose Open. Both apps are Developer ID signed but not notarized, so macOS asks once. If macOS says the app is damaged, run
xattr -dr com.apple.quarantine "/Applications/Julia.app"(or the same command with the Velocity app's path). - Grant permissions when asked:
- Velocity: Accessibility
- Julia: Accessibility, Microphone, and Automation for Terminal and Chrome
- Open Velocity's menu and choose Connect to Julia.
Notes:
- All downloads are Apple-silicon builds for macOS 14 or later.
- This Julia build uses the shared dev backend.
- Existing Velocity installs pick up 0.1.15 through Check for Updates, staying on their channel.
- Validation: 169 Swift tests pass, and the backend's 112 checks pass.
- Not yet verified end to end: Velocity's in-app update to this release, and Julia on a Mac other than Seth's.
Velocity 0.1.14 (Preview)
Velocity 0.1.14 adds an interactive welcome flow, richer agent notifications, and recently closed Chrome tabs.
- Try a sample-data demo before granting permissions. New installations default to Option–Space; existing shortcuts are preserved.
- Agent alerts show a project/task label and an available terminal excerpt. Single-agent alerts open the referenced terminal. Supported explicit confirmation prompts offer Yes, once, with prompt revalidation, one-shot dispatch, and a two-minute expiry. Unsupported or stale prompts open the terminal for manual review.
- Search recently closed Chrome tabs with
@closedor Recently Closed Tabs…. Local tracking keeps up to 100 observed closures for seven days and excludes Incognito. Reopen in the original window, or explicitly choose Chrome’s current profile if that window is unavailable. Earlier browser history, Safari closures, and page-session restoration are not included. - Improve Terminal window/tab deduplication and refresh app-icon registration during builds.
- Experimental builds add a nested resource library with metadata inspection, typed local text requests, and built-in Messages/Slack link-delivery adapters.
- Add explicitly enrolled, scoped local directory evidence access with revocation and tests. No remote enrollment or unrestricted generated-code execution is enabled.
Validation: 135 Swift tests pass in both public and experimental configurations; backend type checking and 15 tests pass. The directory-inspector verifier passes. Both app bundles pass strict signature verification. No real agent approvals or messages were sent by automated tests; live notification approval behavior has not been verified end to end.
Both downloads are Developer ID signed Apple silicon builds requiring macOS 14+. They are not notarized. The standard download disables experimental interfaces; the separately labeled experimental download retains them. In-app Check for Updates preserves your build channel.
Velocity 0.1.13 (Preview)
Velocity 0.1.13 improves result matching and adds local access controls.
- Fix duplicate Terminal window/tab results even when folder, process, or agent activity markers differ. Keep distinct windows separate.
- Search exposed Messages conversations and Slack channels/DMs. Sidebar visibility and active workspace limit coverage; these are not full-history indexes.
- Replace duplicate Messages windows with their active conversation result while keeping full names searchable.
- Refresh the app and menu-bar icons and consolidate catalog, activation, Accessibility, and deduplication code.
- Add optional Agent Access: private-by-default project scopes, paired client credentials, supported open/close requests, native approvals, expiring open grants, revocation, and a local audit log. Access starts off. Name-only destinations are discovery-only for agents. This API boundary is not an OS sandbox.
Validation: 95 Swift tests pass in both public and experimental configurations; backend type checking and all 8 backend tests pass. Native Agent Access layout and default-off state were verified locally. The live Waveshare search was verified to show one Terminal tab result, with no duplicate window row.
Both downloads are Developer ID signed, Apple silicon builds requiring macOS 14+. They are not notarized. The standard download disables objectives and synopses; the separate experimental download retains them. Existing installations can use Check for Updates from the menu-bar menu.
Velocity 0.1.12 (Preview)
Velocity 0.1.12 adds native tab cleanup, Conductor workspace search, and automatic menu-bar accessibility fallback.
- A small Velocity button appears below the menu bar when its normal icon is detected as hidden, clipped by the notch, or offscreen. It disappears when the normal icon becomes accessible again.
- A normal click opens the menu on both buttons.
- Command–Shift–A is available as a global shortcut and is the default for new installations. Existing installations keep their chosen shortcut; choose it from Keyboard Shortcut in the menu.
- Search and open Conductor workspaces exposed in its expanded sidebar.
- Open results sort above apps that need launching; launch-only placeholders no longer appear while the first window scan runs.
- Improved Gmail/browser tab opening through stable browser IDs and current Enter-key selection.
- Audio windows and tabs deduplicate even when a player uses different titles.
- Native Chrome/Safari tab cleanup: remove exact duplicates within each window, review tabs by observed inactivity, and reopen recent cleanup URLs. No extension; no unattended closing or tab rearranging.
Old-tab activity starts when this version runs. Reopening URLs does not restore unsaved page state or the original browser profile. Collapsed Conductor repositories must be expanded to expose workspaces. The notch fallback is for Velocity, not an overflow tray for other apps.
Public and experimental Apple Silicon builds are attached. Objectives and AI grouping remain gated to the experimental build. Builds are Developer ID signed and are not notarized.
Validation: 71 native tests, public and experimental builds, and signature verification. Notch detection has geometry/debounce tests; the physical-notch fallback could not be verified through UI automation in this session.
Velocity 0.1.11 (Preview)
Fixes missing audio indicators on Chrome tabs whose accessibility labels include a trailing memory-usage annotation.
Velocity strips the memory annotation before matching tab titles and reading audio state, preserving exact window/index matching when multiple tabs share a title. The live app correctly identified the playing tab among two identically titled YouTube tabs.
Validation: all 59 tests pass, including playing/muted annotations with memory usage and ordinary titles that mention memory. Public and experimental builds remain separate; both are Developer ID signed but not notarized.
Velocity 0.1.10 (Preview)
Velocity's menu bar icon stays a fixed width when agents need attention. Attention remains visible as an icon badge, with the count in its tooltip and menu. The icon now has a stable autosave name for macOS placement restoration.
Left-click explicitly opens search after menu-bar tracking finishes. Right-click opens the menu directly without temporarily changing the status item's menu/action routing.
Hold Command and drag Velocity nearer the clock to keep it away from the notch. This update does not pin icons or provide overflow for other apps.
Validation: 58 tests pass; public and experimental Developer ID signed builds succeed. The updated experimental app is running locally. Physical menu-icon clicks were not verified through UI automation.
Both previews are signed but not notarized. The standard ZIP has experimental features disabled; the experimental ZIP retains objectives and AI grouping.
Velocity 0.1.9 (Preview)
Experimental grouping now includes every eligible ungrouped window and all captured tab titles. The previous 20-window cap is removed.
Windows are processed in batches with a shared desktop overview and objective catalog, allowing related windows from different batches to join the same objective. Progress, Pause, and Resume retain completed work while the app remains open. Failed requests use a smaller batch on retry without dropping the remaining windows.
Validation: 58 tests pass in both app configurations; eight backend tests and TypeScript checks pass. The updated Convex endpoint is deployed. A live gateway test processed all 81 synthetic windows and linked 20 objectives across batch boundaries. The running app lists all 95 eligible windows on the development desktop.
The standard ZIP keeps experimental features disabled. Use the experimental ZIP for objectives and AI grouping. Both previews are Developer ID signed but not notarized.
Velocity 0.1.8 (Preview)
Adds a small × beside running results to close a tab or window, or gracefully quit an app-only result. Native save and running-process prompts remain in the owning app. Launchable apps and saved chat projects have no close button.
Experimental AI grouping now includes at most 20 windows and six tab titles per window. Failed requests offer a smaller retry. A live ten-window request successfully returned suggestions.
Validated with 55 tests in both build configurations, signed public and experimental builds, and a rendered screenshot of the updated list.
Download the standard ZIP for the public build. The experimental ZIP additionally enables objectives, grouping, and title-derived agent synopses. These previews are Developer ID signed but not notarized.
Velocity 0.1.7 (Preview)
Fixes large blank gaps between search results.
- Uses a native macOS list with fixed-height rows for large result sets.
- Scrolls after row updates, with one coordinated handler for query and selection changes.
- Recommitting unchanged search text preserves the highlighted result.
- Checked with 400 sample browser tabs, profile icons, scrolling, filtering, and reordered results.
Update from Velocity’s menu-bar menu → Check for Updates…. Your public or experimental channel is preserved.
Standard download: Velocity-0.1.7-macOS-arm64.zip.
Experimental opt-in: Velocity-0.1.7-macOS-arm64-experimental.zip includes gated objectives and synopses.
Apple silicon, macOS 14+. Developer ID signed, not notarized. Unzip and move Terminal Velocity.app to Applications. Search with Option–Shift–A.
