OpenPlot AI v1.1.1 — crash fix for API key validation

Choose a tag to compare

@github-actions github-actions released this 01 Oct 01:27

Hotfix release: the app could exit instantly while validating or testing an API key against a misbehaving relay or local endpoint. Windows Event Log showed silent V8 fast-fail crashes (0xc0000409) with the same fault offset since v1.0.2.

Fixed

  • Key validation can no longer kill the app — the main-process HTTP layer now caps buffered response bodies at 8 MB, so a hostile or buggy endpoint streaming an unbounded body fails with a clear error instead of exhausting the heap.
  • fetchModels caps the rendered model list at 400 entries (some relays return absurd lists that froze the renderer).
  • updateProvider tolerates partial payloads instead of throwing on undefined bindings.
  • The main process installs uncaughtException / render-process-gone guards — internal errors now surface as a toast or dialog instead of silently closing the app.

Verification

  • The fix was validated against a real relay provider (key accepted, 35 models fetched) with the app alive through every step.
  • Packaged-build smoke test included in the repo (scripts/smoke-packaged.mjs).

OpenPlot AI v1.1.0

@github-actions github-actions released this 30 Sep 08:12

OpenPlot AI v1.1.0 — reply styles, drag & drop attachments, and token usage tracking.

✨ New Features

Reply styles (Claude-style)

Six builtin personas — Default, Concise, Explanatory, Editorial, Empathetic, Formal — now shape how the assistant writes. Pick one from the composer's sparkle button, edit builtins or add your own in Settings → Styles. Your pick is injected into every reply as a "# Reply style" instruction.

Attachments as chips + drag & drop

Files attached via the + ADD panel now land as removable chips above the composer instead of being pasted into your text. Even better: drag OS files straight onto the message area — or drag a story-bible entry or chapter right out of the Story/Chapters views into the chat. The drop target lights up so you know it's ready. Attached content rides in the model context; your composer text stays clean.

Token usage tracking

Every reply records prompt and completion tokens — exact when the provider reports usage, estimated otherwise. A compact chip on each message shows in→out counts, and the new Settings → Usage section summarizes totals per model and per chat.

Smarter agent tools

The agent gained four tools: read_story_bible (the whole bible in one call), append_to_chapter (safe end/beginning append that can't overwrite your prose), list_projects and read_project. The system prompt now advertises the real tool registry.

Default skills, preinstalled

Four starter skills ship on first run: Continuity Guardian, Prose Polisher, Dialogue Coach, Pacing Analyst. Editable and deletable like your own skills.

Workspace comfort

  • Pinned chats — keep important conversations at the top of the sidebar
  • Zen mode — chat chrome dims while you read or write (Esc to exit)
  • Hideable sidebar — full-width chat when you want it
  • EPUB export takes the author name and language from Settings

🐛 Fixes

  • Deep search returned wrong match counts for queries containing % or _
  • Deleting a message while a reply is generating is now refused cleanly instead of stranding the reply
  • Message content/thinking can be cleared again (updateMessage made tri-state)
  • Chat rows found via deep search but not by title lacked rename/delete actions
  • Contrast fix for the active style button on the Nord theme
  • Plugin sandbox risk is now documented honestly in the source

OpenPlot AI 1.0.1

Focus reliability release. Fixes the intermittent "can't type anywhere" bug and related keyboard focus issues.

Fixed

  • Typing randomly stopped working across the app (composer, chapter editor, titles) after dismissing a confirmation dialog. Native confirm() steals keyboard focus from the window and never restores it; all confirmations are now rendered in-app, and every dialog returns focus to the application when it closes.
  • Closing the command palette left keyboard focus on a removed element; focus is now returned to the application.
  • Opening a modal now moves focus into the dialog, and closing it restores focus, so keyboard navigation always continues from a sane place.
  • Hidden chapter reorder buttons are now revealed when reached with keyboard navigation (focus-within).

Downloads

Two packaging styles are provided per platform:

  • Full app: a single installer or self-contained file (Windows NSIS setup, macOS DMG in Intel and Apple silicon builds, Linux AppImage).
  • Folder: a compressed archive containing the application directory, for portable installs (Windows zip, macOS zip, Linux tar.gz).
